WTF!?!: A Color Ad In The September Issue Of Vogue Is $128,220 (Even For The Black Eyed Peas)
The Black Eyed Peas decided it would be a good idea to place an ad for their new album E.N.D. in the September issue of Vogue. They may not have realized that single color ad would cost them $128,220. With Conde Nast failing, I guess they can’t let Fergie get this one on the house.

Having worked for most foreign publications of Vogue and shooting supermodels whose name you definitely know, Vallhonrat is pretty established. His success does not make his photos any less intriguing, with his use of rainbow-like shadows and amazing ability to capture motion. See more of his work at the source.

RANDOM: Anti-Paparazzi Cluth Bag

I’m not famous enough for this awesome Anti-Paparazzi Clutch just yet, but once I replace Anna Wintour at Vogue and eventually take over the world, I’ll have to hit Adam Harvey up for this genius photog counter attack. Complete with a built-in LED flash, the device detects a camera flash and in turn, emits a brighter flash, ruining slow shutter speed and low light shots. While the wiring is small enough to fit inside a woman’s clutch, Harvey is working on making the device small enough to fit in a pendent or a tie clip. Should Harvey patent this Anti-Paparazzi device, Just Jared and Perez Hilton can kiss their celebrity empires goodbye!

Ad Sales For Vogue Continue To Drop, Jezebel Tells 5 Reasons Why

With “The September Issue” soon coming to theaters, you’d think Vogue is on the top of the world, but ad sales show differently. Yes, when the documentary was filmed they had 727 ad pages in a 840 page magazine, but two years later those ads have reduced themselves to a mere 400 pages (according to the Post). Why is this? Jezebel suspects:
1. The recession? Though Elle is in the lead — and In Style is doing well — ad pages at those publications are likewise down. Companies aren’t spending money like they used to.
2. The zeitgeist? While people are still interested in fashion, it’s no longer cool to be all bling-bling and logo-covered. Perhaps attitudes have changed? Accessible clothes — Project Runway, guest designers at H&M — still pique people’s interests, but what Vogue calls “aspirational” can often feel like a cruel fantasy.
3. It’s stale? Vogue will never die. But maybe it needs resuscitating? A fresh polish on a brand losing luster? Is there a way to restore the enchantment, the magic that Vogue was capable of? Hint: This is not the way.
4. Anna Wintour? The high-profile EIC of Vogue stars in a documentary that may be less than flattering, and recently called fat people in Minnesota little houses. And despite recent covers with Michelle Obama and Beyoncé, there was a time when, for issue after issue, there were no black models on the magazine’s pages. Zero. When does your asset become a liability?
5. The Internet? With sites like The Cut, The Sartorialist, Style.com, Fatshionista, StreetPeeper, Refinery29 and so on, it’s possible to be interested in fashion and find out about all kinds of runway shows, trends and designers without the narrow point-of-view Vogue offers. In a lightning-fast, interactive way. Like we always say, when in doubt, blame this Web 2.0 thing people are always talking about.
What do you think?

VIDEO: “The September Issue” Trailer
Filmed in 2007, R.J. Cutlers takes us behind the scenes with Anna Wintour as she sets to release the September 2007 issue of Vogue, their biggest issue ever. The film debuts August 28th, just in time for the 2009 September issue.

New York To See “The September Issue” In August
Just when I think my August “to-do” list couldn’t get any more intense, word spreads that R.J. Cutler’s glimpse into the life of Anna Wintour and the Vogue empire, The September Issue, will hit Manhattan theaters on August 28th, nearly two weeks earlier than the September 11th USA release! Not in Manhattan? The New York State film release date is September 4th, a whole week before the rest of the nation!
Mark your calendars, shine your shoes and learn how to control your popcorn scarfing habit, because this is bound to be the most fashionable film you see all year!
Thanks Fashionologie!
MODEL MOMENT: Iris Strubegger

24 year-old Iris is not new on the modeling scene, her age and runway experience would have some calling her a veteran. Suddenly she has become a star; with her newly died flame red hair Iris has scored an editorial shot by David Sims and a special article about her hair cut in the July issue of Vogue. Iris has also been chosen to represent Valentino and Givenchy in their campaigns this season. Keep your eyes out for Iris, we all know that when Anna grabs a girl she holds on tight.

SPREAD UM: Vogue July ‘09, Lily Donaldson by Terry Richardson

Anna Wintour step’s up her game with a playful Terry Richardson shoot that would fit seamlessly into the pages of the magazines chic, risk-taking French counterpart. Lily Donaldson’s playful posing and use of actual eye-exam machines is a refreshing change from models jumping in front of a stark white background. The moody color-scheme and cropped shot of her embellished heels have won me over – props Anna!
Sienna Miller Makes Vogue Cover, Again!

So another month has gone by, which means we’re up for another Vogue cover…and guess who it is! No, you’ll never guess…maybe you will cuz I told you in the title, but that’s besidse the point. Let’s talk about this scenerio, Sienna does one f*ing movie and makes a Vogue cover…well, Jezebel is suggesting that it’s Anna’s way of saying “I’m sorry.”
What do you guys think? Does she belong on the cover?
Anna Wintour Gives Rihanna the No-Go

So, apparently if you’re a model that does coke she’ll let you slide. But naked photos floating around the internet? You can kiss your spread goodbye. According to reports, Rihanna, who was lined up to do a covershoot for Vogue magazine, was snubbed by Anna Wintour thanks to some salacious, recently leaked pics of the star `a la Vanessa Hudgens. A source tells Star magazine:
Rihanna and Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour had been talking for weeks about doing the cover and an inside spread. Anna told her Vogue absolutely loves her and really wanted to work with her. Rihanna was ecstatic. But since the photos came out, Anna hasn’t returned any of her calls. Rihanna’s so upset… She hopes the people at Vogue change their minds.”
Not that nude pictures of Rihanna isn’t news to me, but I’m more surprised that Miss Stonyface has the nerve to be pious when Vogue has commited more moral atrocities than Caligula–on a bad day. The hypocrisy is palpable.
“He’s Not Old, He’s Russian!”- Rebecca Alexander
Before realizing how adorable photographer Arthur Elgort’s spread, “The Wedding Party,” for Vogue’s June 2009 issue is, I prematurely threw up in my mouth at the fact that Sasha Pivovarova was actually married and that her husband, artist Igor Vishnyakov, looks like he could be her father. Rebecca, a native Russian herself, thoughtfully pointed out that no, Vishnyakov wasn’t old, he was just Russian (hmm, i guess Russian men just look older?). Ok, Vishnyakov isn’t exactly a spring chicken at 41 years old, but that’s besides the point…sort of…since he actually is old enough to be the model’s father. But hey, a man that flexible is a youngin’ in my books!
“The Wedding Party” is a charming reenactment of Pivovarova and Vishnyakov’s wedding, complete with a gorgeous Lanvin wedding dress and fellow models, Jessica Stam, Irina Kulikova and Hana Soukupova as the bridesmaids. Though the spread hits a soft-spot in my heart, I’m a little resentful that Sasha is just another thief, stealing my socks and stilettos look. Grr.
Thanks IMG!
SPREAD UM: Lara Stone and Morgan Freeman (???) By Bruce Weber For Vogue

Bruce Weber headed down to New Orleans to shoot Lara Stone and Morgan Freeman for the latest US Vogue. I guess Freeman’s becoming a triple threat actor/voice over/model? The concept is cool, opposites of old and young, but I can’t help but be creeped out by the photo of the two laying down laughing together. Shout out: Stone is wearing a Barak Obama shirt in the last photo.
