SHOP LD TUTTLE FOR VPL: Corset Boot; $598

Talk about the blue suede shoes of my dreams, I cannot stop obsessing over these incredible LD Tuttle for VPL corset boots! As if the navy color weren’t brilliant enough, the exposed zipper, stacked wooden heel, canvas toe and laceless front make these boots a must have.

Get it at Oak!

TRENDSPARK: One Legged Fashion

TRENDSPARK: One Legged Fashion TRENDSPARK: One Legged Fashion

Could this be a whole new way to show some leg!? VPL, designed by Victoria Bartlett, is a sportswear label focused on making the invisible, visible…hello legs! I can totally see this trend making it big come spring time. Though I’m not crazy about the neutral colored bodysuits, one of these bad boys in black with a pair of stilettos would be pretty knockout! Hm, I might go chop off a pant-leg on some old jeans now that I think about it!

Thanks Trend Hunter!

Bill Cunningham of NY Times Makes Us Look Forward to Our Eighties

Bill Cunningham of NY Times Makes Us Look Forward to Our Eighties
Watching Bill Cunningham, shown here outside VPL during F/W ’09 New York Fashion Week, is even more exciting than a fashion show. The man is a fire ball, running down the street with more energy that photographers 1/3 his age.

Even in the Bryant Park tents, he’s often sitting a stair rather than an assigned seat or doing anything possible to get a unique frame. While posing for this shot, we can still see his eyes are darting around, trying to find the next subject. Photo by Paul O’Valle.

Thanks to NEXT member Michael Cohen for this awesome angle on Fashion Week.

VPL S/S 2009

Last February, we commented on VPL’s trend towards visible undies for Fall 2008. Well, with a new year, a new season and new trends, it is certainly obvious that designer Victoria Bartlett decided to push the envelope and show more skin than usual! Her garments for the spring are of neutral color as well as simple and sleek design. Where VPL makes its innovative move is with the visible lingerie-esque pieces…and some of these scanty pieces are so well done, you wouldn’t even want to wear a shirt/skirt over them!
