Celebrating its 10^th birthday this year, the festivities at Art Basel Miami almost outshined the actual artwork.  With 18 other local art fairs simultaneously going on around town, over 260 galleries showing the works of over 2000 artists and 50,000 creative enthusiasts from around the world, South Beach and downtown Miami’s Design District were the country’s  creative mecca this first week of December.  Our week was jam packed, with back to back versions of “the most fun party ever”, sandwiched between “the best art exhibit ever” Here’s a rundown of our favorite events:

INTERVIEW: Satya Twena, Architectural Milliner

Satya Twena didn’t fall into design by mistake. Raised in an eclectic family of artists, the appetite to create was in her blood from the very beginning. After years working in the interior design business, Satya decided to test the waters of the fashion industry after realizing her great love for millinery. Lucky for us, her architecturally-inspired hats designed with experimental materials are truly wearable art. I got the chance to sit down with Satya and chat about her family history, vertical inspiration and the rise of the fascinator.

MAG HAG: Baptiste Giabiconi for Wallpaper by Karl Lagerfeld

Karl Lagerfeld dresses (and undresses) his muse Baptiste Giabiconi on this peel-off cover of Wallpaper. Looking like a Karl impersonator in his slick suit, high white color and slim black tie it’s easy to see what the inspiration for this cover was. That being said, if Mr. Lagerfeld was the star we would probably not be taking Wallpaper up on their offer of a peel-off over. Luckily this is not the case, so ladies, peel away.

Karl Lagerfeld Shoots Naked Babtiste Giabiconi for Wallpaper

Karl Lagerfeld shot his boytoy, Babtiste Giabiconi, for the cover of Wallpaper. Not only will he be naked, the Oct issue of Wallpaper will also feature a 27 page spread of Babtiste.
