I’m really excited about this. I mean, I usually get jazzed around sweet accessories, but I’m like, really excited. I’ve got wood. I can’t stop touching it. It’s this wooden ring I got from Linhardt this weekend. It got me standing at the attention of so many other wooden jewelry designers, and now I have to show you. Originally from Tanzania, Africa, Twiga started as an art collector and shifted to creating this beautiful, bold wooden jewelry that’s been popping up all over magazine spreads, department stores, and museum shops. Twiga has also founded The Mbinga Children’s Organization, a non-profit that builds schools in Tanzania. Philanthropy and great, artistic jewelry? I think I’m in love. RANDOM COOL: Good Wood NYC

I spotted a guy at 205 Club last night wearing a pair of wooden glasses, and after asking him about it he handed me a flyer for ‘Good Wood NYC.’ If you haven’t heard of these guys, head over to their site, their stuff is amazing. They have an online store full of multiple-fingered rings, all hand carved, painted and burned. They also do custom designs, so if you send them a picture of anything, they’ll create a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry for you. They’re based out of Brooklyn, but don’t have a store just yet, but you can order custom designs through email, and pick up their originals through the online store (rings run around $20, pendants are $15).
