BeautyTicket.com: Can You Say Dirt Cheap Premium Cosmetics?

Just when you’re about to scream “fuck the recession” at the top of your lungs, BeautyTicket.com appears out of left field BECAUSE of the recession. The two beauty-savvy founders didn’t see the need for people to trade down to drugstore brands during a credit crunch (or ever, for that matter) so they pooled their life savings and launched this online beauty mecca.
So, here it is in a nutshell: Premium beauty brands (like Smashbox, YSL, Pop Beauty, etc.) at deep discounts. How do they do it? They buy overstocks of products from current collections and closeouts of products from the previous season. It’s all unopened, fresh, and dirt cheap. There’s only one catch — if you see a deal you like, snag it because it probably won’t be there the next time you check back! (And, to make sure you don’t miss out on what’s coming down the pipeline, be sure to sign up for their weekly email and Twitter announcements.)

FROM THE ARCHIVES: Yves Saint Laurent Opium Ads

A huge fan of classic perfumes, I have always appreciated Yves Saint Laurent’s Opium for both its scent and controversial name (I myself wear Dior’s Pure Poison, a name sure to get a reaction in the same vein as Opium). Although not as famous -or infamous- as their advertisement featuring Sophie Dahl, vintage Opium ad’s are always dangerous, exotic, and richly colored landing them at the top of the my list of perfume advertisements.

TRENDSPARK: Perforated Accessories

Hot on the heels of the mesh craze popularized by Henry Holland’s dresses and Stella McCartney’s sandals — and on the heels of the YSL cage heels — comes another holey look.
Perforated accessories are popping up all over the place this Spring; and The Pipeline has a delicious look at this season’s best perforated accessories, for guys and girls.
Many serve as fun transition pieces; and the essentially sporty look can be made chic with the right shape. From Loeffler Randal platform booties (above) to Surface to Air black leather wallets, this trend is light, versatile, and modern.

TAKE THE SHINE OFF

One of the most asked questions I hear every day is how to maintain a matte look.
Combination and Oily skin makeup wearers have the hardest time when it comes to wearing makeup. Within 20 mins from washing your face you notice your skin looks really dewy, and you overload your face with powder to keep the matte look. Trust me, I understand your dilemma when working long days and traveling from state to state.
Here are a few makeup items that can help you keep that matte look throughout the day.

M.A.C. Cosmetics Blot Powder: Make sure you always press it on because wiping will remove the foundation. Take the puff and turn it upside down that way you don’t add bacteria into the product. $21.00 www.maccosmetics.com

Smash box Anti-Shine Powder Gel: Before foundation, use this item on your T-zone. It also works well if you place it around your lip line to hold your lipstick color. $27.00 www.sephora.com

Cargo High Defintion Mattifier: It’s great for someone with very oily skin and enlarged pores. Gives instant gratification. Works well as a primer before applying foundation. $24.00 www.sephora.com

YSL Matt Touch Foundation: This is a great item because it really leaves the skin matte but not dull or dry looking. $48.00 www.yslbeautyus.com
