To celebrate the release of his book, Power Dressing: First Ladies, Women Politicians & Fashion, author Robb Young asked a few of fashion’s best and fiercest — including Simon Doonan and Nicola Formichetti — to style some of the most powerful women in the world with the help of illustrator Charlotte Hoyle. The result finds nary a pantsuit or a sweaterset in sight.

Queen Rania of Jordan gets short and flirty in Erdem. Meanwhile, she’s a queen, for Elizabeth II‘s sake, not a starlet going commando at a film premiere.

Last, and certainly least, Sarah Palin, looking chic on her way to ruin what’s left of America in Christopher Kane. I can hear her cackling even through this illustration.

What do you think of these politically-charged high fashion makeovers? Personally, I think Hillary looks the best out of all of them — giving goddess realness while sacrificing none of the power she’s been harnessing in those pantsuits over the last decade or so.

I’ve never actually seen someone pull off a steamboat punk look, but Victorian inspired style icon Yulia Tymoshenko has managed to create a look that is instantly iconic and uberly indie. Skipping the suited look that some politicos try to follow, Yulia paves her own path with a stylish doo that’s a must attempt and a look that feels like it’s straight off the Prada Fall/Winter 2008 runway. Congrats on having us care about you. It’s rare.
