Pinspiration: Photographer Gail Hadani

Edited by

Hailing from that foreign land known as New Jersey, but a New Yorker most of her life, photographer Gail Hadani is inspired by the drama of opera and the romance of fine art. No wonder since she was proficient at both before ever picking up her camera. Deemed a child painting prodigy, Hadani later moved onto the operatic stage where she performed all the greats — Mozart, Puccini, Verdi. Once she retired her scales, she began incorporating photography into her love of the brushstroke and since then her work has appeared in Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan and Zink among others. Today, get classically pinspired with some of Gail Hadani’s photos after the jump.

Sinners & Saynt: Fashion Indie is to ….

Sinners & Saynt: Fashion Indie is to ....

We’re trying to figure out which magazines out there are most like Fashion Indie and vice versa.

Here’s my list…

We’re way too much into crotch shots and full frontal to be like NYLON.

We’re not as corporately/advertiser driven as VOGUE.

We just as desperate for a reality show as ELLE, but we’d never release a collection at Kohls.

We’ve never read MARIE CLAIRE.

We can’t stand MISSBEHAVE. They threatened to slit my throat and Sarah Morrison “sucks cock to get into clubs”. (Her words, not mine)

We aren’t as luxury obsessed as W. Seriously, anything above $1000 bucks is just unnecessary.

We’re not as French as PURPLE.

We’re not as high as PAPER (most of the time).

We don’t know what purpose BLACKBOOK serves considering there is PAPER.

We’re actually read by people, unlike THE NEW YORK OBSERVER.

We’re not boho enough to be LOLA, BUST, LULU or any other four letter combination.

We’re definitely DAZED & CONFUSSED, but not in the way you’d think.

We’re probably most like V or FRENCH VOGUE or ZINK.

Thoughts?

SPREAD UM: Bringing art to life, pt V: Roy Lichtenstein in Masterpiece for Zink Magazine

I love Roy Lichtenstein and I love, love Zink, so this is basically the perfect marriage between art and fashion. The witty bubble thoughts are awesome, and I really like the different dimensions and textures used throughout the image. The models’ hair and makeup is amazing; I adore this fuschia eyeshadow. Zink never fails to come up with the greatest ideas for spreads. I was looking for a huge Lichtenstein print for my bedroom wall, but these are so fabulous, I might have to use one instead.
