TAKE THE SHINE OFF

One of the most asked questions I hear every day is how to maintain a matte look.

Combination and Oily skin makeup wearers have the hardest time when it comes to wearing makeup. Within 20 mins from washing your face you notice your skin looks really dewy, and you overload your face with powder to keep the matte look. Trust me, I understand your dilemma when working long days and traveling from state to state.

Here are a few makeup items that can help you keep that matte look throughout the day.

TAKE THE SHINE OFF

M.A.C. Cosmetics Blot Powder: Make sure you always press it on because wiping will remove the foundation. Take the puff and turn it upside down that way you don’t add bacteria into the product. $21.00 www.maccosmetics.com

TAKE THE SHINE OFF

Smash box Anti-Shine Powder Gel: Before foundation, use this item on your T-zone. It also works well if you place it around your lip line to hold your lipstick color. $27.00 www.sephora.com

TAKE THE SHINE OFF

Cargo High Defintion Mattifier: It’s great for someone with very oily skin and enlarged pores. Gives instant gratification. Works well as a primer before applying foundation. $24.00 www.sephora.com

TAKE THE SHINE OFF

YSL Matt Touch Foundation: This is a great item because it really leaves the skin matte but not dull or dry looking. $48.00 www.yslbeautyus.com

There is a hidden gem located in “The Big Easy”. Celebrity Makeup Artist Brandy Gomez-Duplessis. Brandy may not be a native New Orleanian, but this tough skinned east coaster has always loved makeup. She flirted with makeup, hair, and fashion as a young girl and this was something that kept her occupied being an only child. Because her parents are from Honduras she felt that they didn’t understand her hunger for beauty and fashion She watched old classic Hollywood movies and read fashion magazines (with Vogue being her favorite) and what she loved was seeing women looking beautiful, polished, perfectly combed hair, lots of lashes with red lip stick, and lots of gorgeous gaudy jewelry. Many days Brandy would go to the thrift stores and then walk to Mood Designer Fabrics go home, lock herself in her room to redesign the items she purchase. She would take all of her ideas and sketch figures and faces. Her favorite looks made it to her walls. Her walls were covered in collages of drawings, tear sheets, and articles not knowing that she was creating a personal look book.
