Sometimes, the price of fashion drives me nuts. Now, there are some beautifully detailed pieces out there that warrant the heftier price tag, simply to cover the cost of labor (3.1 Phillip Lim, Nicholas K and others). However the recent trend in “ethnic” prints and jewelry has resulted in inflated prices for certain items whose less expensive incarnations can be found at less than 1/3 of the price, if you’re willing to search for them (hitting up neighborhoods like Curry Hill and Little India in Manhattan is a good idea). Or if you’re really lucky, fly straight to India itself with a few empty duffles (I promise you, it’s worth it).
