Some quack doctor claims drinking booze to keep warm is a “boneheaded move.” Yeah, then what else should I drink to stave off the cold and the dark, dark sadness of winter? Modern medicine is such malarky.
Dr. Sam Zakhari of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism says that if you drink outside in the cold, “You’ll lose heat, and feel a lot colder.”
I can say from personal experience, sir, that that is false. After downing a handle of vodka and traipsing out into the winter snow in nothing but a kimono and one strappy sandal, I felt absolutely fine. In fact, I felt nothing at all for days afterwards.
Some might call it frost bite, I call it the warm, boozy, soothing embrace of cheap liquor.
