The Rights of Independent Publishers Initiative
has been filed as an official statement to the rights of online content creators and bloggers. The rights are duly enforced by publishers who seek to uphold their freedom of speech and interpretation of news, press releases, and content sourced on or offline as well as the rights of a blogger in relation to blog networks.


Blogger Statement of Practice

I will uphold my content to the following standards and abide by certain rules established by other publishers for the intent of creating trustworthy content and opinion.

  1. My content will be true to the fullest extent of my knowledge.
  2. I will not create rumors or stories with no basis of fact. I will not publish statements I know to be false without disclosing said knowledge to my readers.
  3. When it comes to my attention that a story I posted is false, I will make an effort to correct the story and provide a retraction if necessary.
  4. I will provide links to sources of content, interviews, photos, videos and/or quotes when the source is another blogger, media outlet or news organization.
  5. I will not repost full content from another site without prior permission of the publisher.
  6. I will mark any purchased posts as “advertorial” and make it transparent to my readers when they are reading content provided by an advertiser.

As an online publisher, I will expect my rights to be upheld by networks I am associated with. Networks will be expected to provide me with the following rights.

  1. My personal opinions will be respected and protected and can be stated in any post I place on my site.
