CrOp by David Peck is a socially conscious, contemporary womenswear brand that is produced and developed in Houston. Designer David Peck sat down with FashionIndie and answered 5 of our most pressing questions about his brand, summer style and what inspires him.
Who’s the ideal Crop by David Peck woman?
Our ideal woman is one who loves color and print and values quality. She is fashion forward without being too trendy and has an eye for detail.
Can you tell us about the charitable aspect of your brand?
We like to collaborate with charities in a variety of different ways. We’re currently working with and supporting Covenant House International on our Fall 2013 collection. Fall ’13 is inspired by many of the places I’ve called home, and Covenant House helps to eliminate teen homelessness by offering education and support to teens who don’t have a place to call home. We also host a number of events every season that help raise awareness and additional funds for our charities. Many of our best retailers are also involved in charitable projects, and we partner with them on events and trunk shows to help raise funds and awareness for their charities as well.
What is your best summer style tip?
COLOR! Summer is the perfect time to experiment with all those crazy color combos you’ve seen everywhere. Because summer is a little more casual in general, there is less risk in trying something a little bolder than what you’re used to wearing.
Can you tell us three things most people don’t know about you?
I’m actually very introverted and love to curl up with a good book and a cup of tea when given the chance. I once tried out for American Idol and had to sleep on the streets of Detroit. Most of my extended family lives in Roswell, NM, but none of them have been abducted by aliens as far as I know.
What websites or magazines do you draw inspiration from?
I seem to have an ever expanding list of blogs and websites in my reader, but The Business of Fashion, The Sartorialist and of course FashionIndie.com are my go-tos!
