Walking through Bal Harbour, after a week of partying with the art scene’s finest, we spotted a familiar face, Mr.Wes Gordon, a New York City transplant, who was hosting a trunk show at Neiman Marcus. We chatted up the designer and walked through his Spring collection, falling in love with the Atlanta-native’s down to earth demeanor and luxury sensibilities.
Trained under greats such as Oscar de la Renta and Tom Ford, Wes Gordon’s collection of young, modern womenswear with edge, mixes timeless sophistication with a luxury haute couture detailing, skills gained from an education at Central Saint Martins University of Art and Design. A fixture in London’s social scene, Wes honed his craft, creating pieces for close friends who defined the lifestyle of the Gordon woman.
Since London, Wes has developed a love affair with New York, manufacturing pieces in the city’s revitalized Garment District and finding his collection in the pages of Vogue and the shelves of stores such as Bergdorf Goodman and Kirna Zabete.
He walked us through a few of his favorite pieces from his Spring 2013 collection, including an amazing lace top and printed silk trousers. Beca fell in love with a plum coat, with embellished sleaves, an a one-shoulder slip dress in red.
