Karl Lagerfeld is taking time out of his ridiculously busy schedule to follow in the journalistic footsteps of another ardent multi-tasker, Lady Gaga. Back on May 17, the poptart took over a day’s editing duties for the newspaper, Metro, reaching an audience of over 800 million people. Come February 7, Metro‘s “The World According to Karl” edition will hit newsstands.

Lagerfeld will provide illustrations and commentary for the special issue, which kicks off the daily’s coverage of New York, London, Milan and Paris Fashion Week. “I love daily papers and it’s fun to be part of one of them just for the day. Metro is on a worldwide scale and it’s even more fun,” the Kasiser unconvincingly claims.

The newspaper is also running a Look Book contest, giving readers a chance to win — in addition to a trip to Paris to be Uncle Karl’s editorial assitant — a few pieces from the designer’s collections. As if the prospect of being yelled at by Karl Lagerfeld about the qaulity of his coffee and/or your copy wasn’t impetus enough, imagine getting some free Chanel and/or Fendi in the process? [WWD]

Story by Lester Brathwaite

I was center square from 1969 to 1978, during which I perfected the art of the zing as well as a crippling cocaine addiction. Bea Arthur was responsible for both. @LesFabian lester at fashionindie.com
