Punk-Rock Chick Turns Dainty, Darling Designer

Edited by

It’s hard to imagine that this lovely, playful, dainty collection of dresses and romp-around clothing came from the mind of someone who was too punk-rock to model in the late 80s. Corey Lynn Calter launched her own brand a decade after being discovered by, and designing for, Pat Field at 19-years-young, and discovering her skills through outfitting the Opera. Today, her collaboration with Seychelles, and new line Corey inspired by drawings of Henry Darger, “The Vivian Girls” is sold everywhere, even Alaska. Play with the lookbook ahead for refreshing floral corals for Corey Spring 13.

Detroit Designer Reconstructs Massive Vintage Collection

Edited by

The little girl that grew up ogling antiques with her mom, went on to amass a vintage collection that occupy racks upon racks of beauty in her life. But when it came to wearing each piece, she found it unrealistic. The lace was divine on this piece, but the neckline was too stuffy. The fullness on that skirt was perfection, but the top was too frilly. So, she hacked them all apart, and put them back together to her liking. Now with the help of local gown makers in her hometown of Detroit, Ella Sven is opening her homemade hearty vintage operation up for grabs.

McQueen Intern Makes Monumental Menswear

Edited by

With optic prints and multi-proportioned silhouettes, Marius Petrus is giving menswear something to shout about. It’s loud, yet completely pulled together in the austere tradition of Western male adornment. Where sportswear and high tech converge with classic tailoring and detailed finishing, you’ll find 23-year-old Marius Op ‘T Eynde at the helm of this new label. Because he really couldn’t find any clothing out there that he wanted to wear, he made his own.

Clean Minimalism on a Chaotic Day

Edited by

After the chaos of Hurricane Sandy, we could use some clean lines and optimistic minimalism. The German duo of Walter Friedrichs is giving us that sharp palette, perfect for when our offices are able to open their doors again (kindly wait till our order is in from Berlin, thanks). Design school friends Katharina Walter and Simone Friedrichs joined back together after stints at Hannah Marshall and Hussein Chalayan in London, in order to realize their united minimalist vision.

Bavarian Skater Boy Designs Sleek Avant Gard Menswear

Edited by

With more of a hip hop edge than what you’d suspect of a designer from a small town in Bavaria, this skater kid turned fashion designer as a knack for dark street chic, even in head-to-toe white. Boris Bidjan Saberi cuts silhouettes that fall so casually around a man’s form, dripping with a gentleman’s ease. On the other side of the coin, there lie military undertones in Autumn, hunter greens, fatigue style, reworked shifted combat boots. We’re amped to see what’s coming next out of his Barcelona-based studio. Take a peek at the green of fall ’12 and the black/white contrast of spring ’13.
