SHOE ENVY: Apex Predator Shoes

Edited by

Apex predators are predators with no predators of their own, residing at the top of their food chain.” We can just picture opponent shoes running scared at the sight of this rad yet ghastly design by artists Mariana Fantich and Dominic Young. Made using Saville Row oxford shoes and 1,050 teeth dentures, this is the coolest slash creepiest pair of kicks we’ve seen all year.

Does This Hat Make Me Look Bald?

Edited by

My first impression of this cap was its air painted ombré over Tim Burton-eque stripes, but they suddenly make me think of a balding head, lush at the sides, sparse strands on top. Perhaps that is why it topped the domes of so many luscious-haired bearded models at Henrik Vibskov‘s fall 2012 show in Paris (note, the only Scandanavian designer showing in France). Also, the ear-holes are counterintuitive; they make you need earmuffs, or an Afro to keep warm. And yet, despite all of these facts, and in fact because of them, I’m really loving this chapeau d’avant garde

Church’s Sole Just Got More Flexible

Edited by

Ooh boys, we found a bendy one for you. You like ‘em flexible, but you’re used to working for it. In your typical dress shoes, the soles are stiff (maybe that explains the abundance of awful dancers in the male sphere). So one of England’s oldest shoe companies, Church’s (est. 1873, taken over by Prada in ’99) has taken a tip from Dr. Martens with Goodyear Welted soles. But they’ve added their own method of flexing the outer sole. With ball-of-the-foot ribbing and a special oiling process, this formal shoe is ready for a run.

Get Spiffy in a Shinier Black Tie

Edited by

Inspired by the art world, ”Title of Work” is a brand new brand of ties that infuses traditional mens neckwear with a touch of shine. Designer Jonathan Meizler comes from a couture embroidery and beading background, but is now angling that feature to men. In a fancy, subtle, but still super masculine way, ties are getting an upgrade.

Feel Good Friday: Get Naked For a Cause

Edited by

When you slowly peel the silky, form-fitting Italian micro-modal off of your (or your man’s) body, you know you’re going to feel good. Among the many reasons this is pleasurable, surely topping the list is that the purchase of these boxer briefs helped students in Ghana get computer labs.

A Birthday Wish for Sean & John Lennon: Give Peace a Chance, Not Fracking!

Edited by

Today, October 9th marks the day John Lennon came into existence, 72 years ago. On pop notes, Lennon’s name landed firmly in our vernacular with The Beatles, and as he evolved, aligning himself with love, he began to work for world peace with Yoko Ono in his NY years. Now his second son Sean Lennon, who is also celebrating a birthday today, is carrying on earth-changing movements with his mother Yoko. John was an antiestablishment, pro-humanity-minded artist, so, we’re sure the success of Sean’s and enviro-political Rolling Stone piece and organization against fracking would do John proud. Also, find out how Lady Gaga is supporting the cause with Yoko Ono today.
