SINNERS & SAYNT Goodbye Fashion Indie

I might be leaving Fashion Indie soon to pursue a new something or another. There are no definites yet and there are still a lot of ways in which I might still stay here, but as of right now there is a really good chance that I’m going to work on the digital side of a new magazine by months end. I’ll definitely let all you indies know what will happen and if the transition will be sooner than later. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed creating and building FashionIndie.com but it feels like it might be the right time to move on.

Hugs & Disses,

Daniel Saynt

SINNERS & SAYNT Tonights The Big Show

Daniel Saynt June 24 at 10:53 | Comments

I guess it hasn’t hit me yet that in a few hours we will be staging our first investor meet-up at The Gates. I’ve been told we’re one of the first companies to host an event like this as a way to bring in capital, which I’m all for. Kind of getting used to being the originator with all the work we’ve been doing on Fashion Indie and the ways we’ve been influencing the fashion market since we first got into this thing.

Anyways, if you’re on the list we’re looking forward to seeing you tonight, if not, I’m sure there will be video and photos on Fashion Indie tomorrow. Wish us luck indies, we’re hoping to walk out with a couple of financial commitments.

FASHION INDIE NEWS We’re Really Nice Now, and God, We Love You

So here’s the thing. There are certain folks in the industry that really don’t like us. Not in the fashion industry, since most brands, designers, models, and magazines seem to love us, but in the blogging industry. It’s kind of weird how it all started and I get tired of going into it, but basically, there are some sites who are run by petty people who attack us occasionally to help them get some traffic, notice, etc. It’s all really ridiculous stuff and occasionally the Village Voice or Gawker blow it way out of proportion and make it seem like I’m an asshole.  It’s cool, I don’t really sweat it, you live, you learn, and then you get Luvs.

Anyway, I’m trying to help shed Fashion Indie’s torrid past, to make amends for any of my hurtful comments and bring you all a better, slightly more professional version of our independent views on fashion. I know for some of you it will be difficult to forgive my stupidity, but what’s life without a little resolution for future. So indies, here’s my resolve, I Daniel Saynt will spend far less time defending myself against attacks and more time ensuring these attacks never take place.

I will do this by enforcing stricter editorial policies on Fashion Indie, checking posts regularly and making changes whenever you comment on misspellings or grammatical errors. I will encourage more thought-out postings and remain engaged in conversations with our readers. I will try harder to listen to your opinions on Fashion Indie and build a site you can be proud to read daily. Additionally, I will no longer engage in silly blog wars with silly bloggers and quickly dying newspaper organizations, at least I won’t defend myself in the way I have in the past (that means fewer “Go F*ck Yourself”s  to loser bloggers). Also, we’ll try our best to keep our content safe for work, giving you extra peeks only if you want it.

I hope that’s a start in the right direction. Comment if you have anything more we should add to our list of reforms.

SINNERS & SAYNT Meeting With The Doneger Group Today fashion

Uberly excited that I’m meeting with Abbey Doneger of The Doneger Group today. The group has defined trends for years and we’re really hoping to figure out a way to be the next “trend” they introduce to the fashion world.

Wish me luck indies.

SINNERS & SAYNT Daniel Saynt is No Fame Whore

SINNERS & SAYNT Daniel Saynt is No Fame Whore fashion

Last night Becks headed to girls night with a few of her Cleveland and local friendlies. Most of the night seemed to be a recap of our True Life episode, with me getting a nod for husband of the year (didn’t realize nodding and smiling constituted pro-husbandly duties, but I’ll take it), Becks getting award for “whiney” beotch of the year, and everyone overall bashing us for doing it.

To set the record straight, we did True Life cause we thought it would be fun. It was. Getting followed around for three months by a camera crew, staging scenarios, and going through the motions of actually caring about a subject you don’t really care about is pretty much the coolest job in the world. I have to give it up to The Hills girls for doing it without breaking a sweat, cause it’s a serious job with major responsibility.

Anyway, today, I received a few comments from someone suggesting that I’m desperate to be famous. While it isn’t the first time someone has said this about me, but it’s still kinda surprising. Seriously indies nothing could be further from the truth.

While I do enjoy doing things with MTV, The Travel Chanel, and other shows that will have my ugly mug on it, it’s not cause I’m desperate for fame or starved for attention, it’s that I’m an entrepreneur. You see those of us who run businesses don’t have bosses telling them they are doing a good job. We don’t get raises or promotions or little stars on our sticker sheets. We don’t get pats on the back and confirmation of our successes from upper management. All we get are complaints and problems to fix. Being on TV is my way of getting a little attention for my deeds. A little “Good Job Daniel” from the media monster that’s running this bitch. And if MTV or any other station wants to have me on, I’ll always say yes or at least consider an appearance.

Additionally, being on TV, talking to radio shows, giving speeches at schools, even occasionally writing on Fashion Indie is part of my job. That’s what I have to do. It’s my career. If I’m not on TV talking about Fashion Indie or making appearances who is. It’s not easy to run a company in this current marketplace and any publicity that helps increase site recognition or traffic is good publicity. Personally, I don’t like being on camera, I do it cause I have to.

Which is why it really makes me sad when people in the industry think I do this for my own personal visions of grandeur. I’m the most self-loathing person in this game and if I had to do a reality show, it would be while on a mega dose of Vicadin and botox shots in my forehead to prevent the nervous sweating. Seriously.

On another note, you might actually be seeing a lot more of my face out there. The business development team we are working with at Blackstar have just set us up to produce three television shows. Two are mobile based, the third is launching in Detroit and will hopefully go national. Either way, believe me when I say, I don’t love this shit, or crave it, I just do it cause I have too.

Hugs and Disses,

Daniel Saynt

I noticed the other day that we were set to hit a major milestone in our company this week, our 10,000th post!!!

That’s right indies, everyday for the past two years, we’ve given you our (sometimes disagreed upon) opinions on fashion, breaking news stories and shared with you our favorite editorials, videos, and more.
