Coach Takes Down Long Island Mother-Daughter Counterfeit Duo

Coach is the latest brand to strike a blow against counterfeiting, but unlike most instances of bogus baggery, these counterfeiters are based in the good ole U.S. of A. Long Island to be exact. 

Coach Takes Down Long Island Mother Daughter Counterfeit Duo

In Manhattan federal court, Judge Colleen McMahon awarded $44 million to Coach, finding that Syosset, NY residents Linda and Courtney Allen had violated trademarks on 11 types of goods thereby racking up a total of 22 infringements.

Coach was granted a permanent injunction to shut down the Allens’  counterfeiting websites, and Where people will get their classy fashion now is anyone’s guess, but this isn’t the first time Linda Allen has run afoul of the law.

In 2007, she was sued by Chanel for counterfeiting and trademark infringement over the resilient and Citing Allen’s continued flagrant flouncing of the law, Judge McMahon hoped the hefty $44 million ruling would deter her from counterfeiting in the future.

When reached by WWD, Linda Allen claimed to know nothing about the case or the verdict against her, repeatedly saying “it’s not valid.” However, she might have just been referring to the Coach bag she was holding at the time. [WWD, sub req'd]
