We lost yet another diva this year. In what is surely a sign of the End of Days, Donna Summer joins Whitney Houston in diva heaven where they’re belting out hit after goddamn hit with Etta James and Amy Winehouse. To honor the undisputed Queen of Disco — itself the music of the gods — strap on your platform heels and call into work today. We’re exploring Summer’s greatest looks and her greatest songs — the extended 12″ versions, of course — because there’s nothing better than a backbeat that just won’t quit.

This is how a diva dresses: fur for days over a thigh-high slit.

I was center square from 1969 to 1978, during which I perfected the art of the zing as well as a crippling cocaine addiction. Bea Arthur was responsible for both. @LesFabian lester dot brathwaite at gmail
