There once was a girl from California who bitch slapped Anna Wintour and then called Andre Leon Tally a fatty. That girl wasn't me but god was she fucking cool. Love: foreign fashion magazines, newstands, charlotte rampling, silent movies Hate: Lilo, ScarJo, The Zoe, trends, but chiefly hipsters-fuck hipsters Lauren Garroni tagged this post with: , Read 332 articles by Lauren Garroni

French Vogue missed the mark on this one. Thinking of new ways to present fashion is great in theory but only good in practicality if it works, and it doesn't here. The editor's crop-and-chop style interferes with the fluidity of some of the pieces (The whole is greater than the sum of its parts). Photographs already flatten, and therefore obscure. This goes further by turning the models into Picasso's playthings.

To me, it looks like something a sixth grader would do in art class to be creative when she was pressed for time – "I know! I'll just cut the photos up and collage them together." The bottom image on the second page is the only one that comes close to appealing. I don't even like the page layout though…It just doesn't work for me. Sorry. I normally love French Vogue's approach.
