On the heels of dismissing chief designer Patrick Robinson, Gap Inc. is addressing the gap in international and online sales — which are growing rapidly and expected to make up 30 percent of revenue by 2013 —  and North American sales — which…not so much.

Gap Minds Its Sales Gap

The company’s chairman and CEO Glenn Murphy outlined some initiatives to get the Gap back on track, such as downsizing on their number of stores, striking a better balance between Gap and its “value channel” (read: cheaper, less attractive sister) Old Navy and nearly doubling the number of global franchises by 2014 or sooner ( including the inevitable expansion into China).

I’m assuming finding a new designer fits into that grand scheme somewhere… [WWD]
