Kanye West’s latest attempt in women’s footwear design is coinciding with the release of his latest mix tape Cruel Summer. The rapper has teamed up with designer shoe label Giuseppe Zanotti to create a pair of white heels inspired by his album artwork.

Although Kanye West has decided to sit this Paris Fashion Week out, his latest design collaboration with high-end shoe retailer Giuseppe Zanotti is still making an appearance. This will be Kanye’s second collaboration with the upscale shoe manufacturer, but this time it’s inspired by G.O.O.D. Music’s mix tape Cruel Summer.

While the design is an improvement from his custom has decided to sit this Kim Kardashian atrocity, it will take a lot of time and convincing for Kanye’s career in fashion to be seen as legitimate in our eyes.

Kanye West’s previous attempts at fashion design came upon harsh criticism from the industry. Many publications ripped his first collection to shreds, with many a quotable quip about the “designer’s” less that satisfactory first season. His second season opened to a bevy of lukewarm reviews. Some notable criticisms include;

“In a move that did not lack for hubris, he planted himself on the Paris schedule, staked out an opulent venue – the classically styled Lycée Henri IV – and veiled his production in a well-guarded hush.” – Women’s Wear Daily

“Kanye West’s collection was so Givenchy-esque that it’s embarrassing that Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci was an expected guest.” – WSJ

“I sit in chairs, but that doesn’t mean that I can be a furniture designer.” – Style.com

Rappers and hip-hop have become increasingly more involved in high fashion, but can one truly be successful at jumping in between the two industries? Most cite Kanye’s failure to legitimizing his place in the industry is due to his immediate jump to designing high end ready-to-wear clothing and debuting at Paris Fashion Week. Normally Paris is seen as the highest fashion week and is usually set aside for world renowned fashion houses and established labels. Many other celebrities have successfully created their own high end clothing labels, but got their start doing commercial collaborations and clothing lines.

Kanye’s ego unfortunately does not have the patience to work his way up to credibility. Unfortunately if you throw someone into the water that doesn’t know how to swim, they will eventually drown and Kanye West seems to be treading water.

If you thought Kanye’s fashion line was ridiculous, then you won’t believe that he allegedly has two sex tapes being shopped around and Kim isn’t in a starring roll.
