Another One Bites the Dust as Maxime Simoens Exits Leonard

It seems like a neverending game of fashion musical chairs with the recent upheavals in creative directorship. Raf Simons leaves Jil Sander; Stefano Pilati leaves Yves Saint Laurent; Jil Sander comes back to Jil Sander; Hedi Slimane comes back to Yves Saint Laurent; while Christian Dior‘s seat remains conspicuously empty throughout. The latest exit comes courtesy of couture wunderkind Maxime Simoens, who is leaving his post as creative director at French label  Leonard after only four short months. And guess where he’s rumored to be going?

Another One Bites the Dust as Maxime Simoens Exits Leonard

No one has confirmed anything yet, of course, but both Simoens and Leonard are expected to part in mutual agreement. As for Dior, the speculative go-to destination for any and every designer for the past year, “sources” indicate that Simoens has been in talks with the storied luxury house, though the 27-year-old has repeatedly denied that he has had any contact with them.

Sounds like an admission of guilt if I ever heard one. [WWD, sub req'd]

I was center square from 1969 to 1978, during which I perfected the art of the zing as well as a crippling cocaine addiction. Bea Arthur was responsible for both. @LesFabian lester dot brathwaite at gmail
