“Only 3% of the beetles have that color. They only had 100, and we were like, we need 3,000.” Mathieu Mirano got his wings in the most fantastic green blue yellow purple prismatic wonder of nature. Plus, everyone loves the beetles, they just didn’t know it yet. Like how most brilliant red lipstick is made from beetles.

“They’re beetle wings. We wanted something that was beautiful, iridescent and had a great shape. Something that worked really well together to create this kind of creature we were going after. This scientist woman transforming into this creature. They’re beautiful together.”

How did you find out about them?

“We do a lot of research. The biggest part of it is getting to know everything that’s out there. There’s an endless amount of things out there that work, you just have to find the things that people haven’t used before.”
