Meet the New Girls of Modeling

Ukrainian Paul Pavlovska is a welcome addition to the hallowed halls of our Model Manual. The rising star has editorials in this month’s Nylon, Qvest, and Mixte. Plus, back in February she snagged a couple of pages of Italian Vogue photographed by star-maker Steven Meisel. Her Stateside modeling career just began at last year’s end, so that’s a pretty impressive résumé. We also felt compelled to give this Trump model a little extra play because she’s currently back home taking her high-school final exams. We do love a well-educated pretty person.

Diversity is (finally) seeping onto the catwalks. At least five of Phillip Lim’s latest runway spots were striking Asian models. Our current favorite (and newest addition to the Model Manual) is 5′10″ Mo Wandan. Currently signed with Next Model Management, the Chinese beauty has walked some major shows since the start of 2007. For fall, she hit Narciso Rodriguez and Valentino, and was also recently cast in the Dior couture show.

When most people picture Brazilian models, the first faces (and bodies) that spring to mind are Gisele, Adriana, or Caroline. But that list is getting longer with the very recent rise of Natalia Schueroff. Her delicate features, subtle freckles, and long, brown hair have been a huge hit this year. In just her first season, she hit the biggest of the big runways: Calvin Klein and Jil Sander. And having just signed with Supreme earlier this year, this bombshell is only getting started.

Modeling loves a good comeback (Moss, Klum, and Schiffer spring to mind), and the latest stunner to ascend, Rocky Balboa–style, up modeling’s gleaming steps is Anna Jagodzinska. She first hit it big in 2004, with a Prada runway casting. Later, she became the face of H&M and DKNY Lingerie, but in 2006 the Polish girl went home for school (girl’s got her priorities straight). Now she’s returned more polished — and probably smarter — than ever. Rumor has it that she’s even booked a Steven Meisel–shot campaign. Expect her to stick around this time.
