Famous “pop-artist” Andy Warhol once stated, “If everybody’s not a beauty, then nobody is.” Makeup brand Nars is creating a holiday makeup collation inspired by Mr. Warhol that is largest collaboration for the brand to date and is set to be sold in Sephora and large department worldwide.
Creating an ode to Andy Warhol’s famous “pop-art” style, makeup brand Nars is creating a Warhol inspired holiday collection. Split into two offerings: one at Sephora that launches Oct. 1 and one for department stores that launches Nov. 1, the Andy Warhol collection is the largest collaboration for both the Warhol Foundation and Nars to date.
Sephora’s collection is inspired by the pop-art movement. With palettes named after Debbie Harry and modeled after the 1980′s portraits of the female rocker, all of new shades and compacts include a quote by Warhol inscribed on the mirror.
The department store line is inspired by Andy Warhol’s Silver Factory. The downtown girl modeled in black and white, where you can purchase a set named after Edie Sedgewick for $75 or a blush named after Warhol’s muse Candy Darling.
The Pop and Sliver Factory Collections will be sold in 1,300 stores globally and could sell $15 million at retail in their time on counter.
And after more than 20 years since Warhol’s death, the off the wall artist and his style has inspired fashion editorials, movies, and now a makeup line at Nars. With years ahead of us and Warhol’s influence still reigning supreme, we’ll only have to wait and see what future creative works the artist’s work will spark.
