Oprah may have hung up her television mic and camera-ready wig, but that doesn’t mean she’s given up the role of interviewer par excellence. Eschewing his sprawling Colorado ranch, legendary designer Ralph Lauren coaxed the big O out for a night at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tulley Hall to sit down and chat about…him to raise money for the Ralph Lauren Center for Cancer Care and Prevention and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

The stars from all walks of fame turned out for the iconic chat, including Diane von Furstenberg, Uma Thurman, Naomi WattsSean Avery, Chanel ImanPrabal Gurung, Tory Burch, Jessica Alba, Jerry Seinfeld, Tom Brokaw, Babs WaltersMartha Stewart and of course, Gayle King.  All in all the event raised over $7 million proving once again that everything Oprah touches turns to gold. Or at least turns to wads and wads of cash. [WWD]

Ralph and O

Story by Lester Brathwaite

I was center square from 1969 to 1978, during which I perfected the art of the zing as well as a crippling cocaine addiction. Bea Arthur was responsible for both. @LesFabian lester at fashionindie.com
