5 Tips for Acheiving the Romantic Arc of the Brushed-Out Roller-Set

Aug 23, 2013 - by Nick Arrojo

Something for the weekend? It’s the last days of summer –– make the most of them by going out in this fancy and fabulous ‘do. A style made famous by the film stars of the forties, the glamorous, neck-grazing waves and deep, stylistic side-part are as sexy and as sophisticated as they ever were. Nowadays, though, instead of having to roller-set hair over several hours, or even overnight, you can use hot-tools to create this look as quick as a flash. Learn the steps in the style notes…

Step 1: On clean, wet hair, apply styling creme liberally from roots to ends. Mist in some protective thickening lotion, too.

Step 2: Using a 1 to 2 inch curling iron, curl whole head of hair. After making each curl, use a pin-curl clip to pin-in each curl. Once all curls are pinned, mist primp working spray over them.

Step 3: Switch your blowdryer to cool and apply cool air to curls until they have cooled completely.

Step 4: Unclip curls. Using outside arch of eyebrow as the guide, make a deep side-part. Now simply brush out curls until they form the vintage, forties-inspired shape you want.

Step 5: Mist holding spray over finished style for extra hold and support.
