Natalie Portman‘s Dior mascara ad is only the latest fashion ad to be banned on the limey streets of Britannia. Because the English are notoriously conservative, they scandalize easily whereas in America we have Lindsay Lohan. There’s no scandal big enough for us to bat a digitally altered eyelash at. Here, a sampling of ads banned by the UK’s watchdog, the Advertising Standards Authority.

Yves Saint Laurent Opium, 2000

In the heady Tom Ford days of YSL before the Hedi Slimane days of Saint Laurent Paris, Sophie Dahl‘s naked body caused quite a stir and the ASA banned the ad for being “sexually suggestive.”
