I had the honor and pleasure of meeting some of my favorite fierce and fabulous queens of the fourth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, otherwise known as THE GREATEST SHOW OF ALL TIME. Before winner Sharon Needles was crowned “America’s Next Drag Superstar,” I sat down with her and the other members of the sisterhood of the traveling tuck to pick their brains for beauty tips, makeup bag essentials and the source of inspiration for their wild and wonderful style.¬†

Untuck a Hoe: The Queens of RuPauls Drag Race Share Their Beauty Tips and Style Inspirations

And the category is…CHEESECAKE!

Beauty Tip: Just make sure you wash your face. I don’t think a lot of queens really understand that you have to fully exfoliate. And not just like a little five minute wash, I’m talking like a good fifteen minute scrub. You gotta get in the nooks and crannies, where you put makeup at and you gotta wash.

Style Inspiration: I try not to follow trends. I don’t necessarily like doing what every other drag queen does. I’m really inspired by real women. I’m inspired by, of course Beyonc√© and all those girls I love, but I’m really inspired by real women. I’m inspired by the girls I went to school with, I’m inspired by the girls I hang around on a daily basis, I’m inspired by my best friend who’s a single mother and literally is always fly and fierce, but also has a son that she has to feed. I’m inspired by really powerful women who still keep themselves up and march to the beat of their own drum. They’re not about wearing a Louboutin because everyone else is wearing a Louboutin; they’re about wearing a Louboutin because they want to wear a Louboutin.

I was center square from 1969 to 1978, during which I perfected the art of the zing as well as a crippling cocaine addiction. Bea Arthur was responsible for both. @LesFabian lester dot brathwaite at gmail
