Sarah Burton, Victoria Beckham, Christopher Kane and Stella McCartney Win Big at British Fashion Awards

In a rare, and unstaged, show of emotion — public or otherwise — Victoria Beckham wiped away a tear as she collected her award for Designer Brand at the 2011 British Fashion Awards. Thanking her husband and 13 children, Beckham beat out industry vets Tom FordBurberry and Stella McCartney – who still managed to win the Red Carpet award – to snatch her first BFA trophy. Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton was awarded the Designer of the Year award while Christopher Kane beat out Erdem and Jonathan Saunders to take home the inaugural New Establishment prize, which recognizes “a particular movement in British fashion that is taking the industry by storm.” Gallery and list of the winners follows after the jump.

I was center square from 1969 to 1978, during which I perfected the art of the zing as well as a crippling cocaine addiction. Bea Arthur was responsible for both. @LesFabian lester dot brathwaite at gmail
