Shoes of Prey Collaborate with Up and Coming Designers for Exclusive NYFW Styles
Even though New York Fashion Week has come and gone, we’d like to reminisce a bit and highlight the shoe brand Shoes of Prey that collaborated with up-and-coming designers Mandy Coon, Jonathan Simkhai, and Gretchen Jones for exclusive NYFW styles.
One designer was named “one to watch” by Style.com, another is a Brooklyn-based Project Runway winner, and the last is a city-dressing dark diva from New York. All of these designers have done thing in common, they all collaborated with a shoe label exclusively for New York Fashion Week. And that brand is none other than Shoes of Prey.
For this year’s New York Fashion Week, Shoes of Prey collaborated with new designers, Jonathan Simkhai, Gretchen Jones, and Mandy Coon to create a line of exclusive shoe designs.
Mandy Coon is a designer who showed at Milk Studios this fashion week to present her ultra modern aesthetic of dressing. After launching in 2010, she explains that she is inspired by lines that are created in nature and in music and that her footwear designs for shoes of prey, “take their cue from science, but never loses sight of the street; they’re as precise as a syncopated beat”
Gretchen Jones’ aesthetic revolves around a 1970s nostalgic vibe that offers an equally playful take on eco-friendly as it is fashion-forward. The Brooklyn-based designer won season 8 of Project Runway and her Shoes of Prey collaboration is sure to be one of many to come.
Gwen Stefani and Drew Barrymore are already fans of the designer Jonathan Simkhai and it’s easy to tell why. The new designer channeled some of the grey and black leather elements from his Resort 2013 collection into his designs for Shoes of Pres and his emphasis on balancing function and fashion remains true in this pair of white leather opened-toe heels.
These three style are not the only NYFW exclusive Shoes of Prey styles has to offer. Make sure to check out their website to see the rest and to keep updated on how the styles looked on the runway. We only hope that by the time February rolls around it might be warm enough to rock these NYFW exclusives at the tents next season. While it’s unlikely, we know a couple of individuals who’d be willing to freeze their toes off in order to be seen rocking these unique choices of footwear and one of them includes us.
