Family Funeral For Lee Alexander McQueen Today

A private funeral service will take place today for Lee Alexander McQueen. The service is for family only, a spokeswoman for the label said Wednesday. A memorial service open to McQueen’s friends and supporters will take place later this year, although no date or venue has been confirmed, she said. “We are focusing right now on the Paris show, which takes place on March 9,” she said.

UPDATE: Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Daphne Guinness (not Lady Gaga) arrive at the funeral at St Paul’s Church in Knightsbridge, London.

Sir Philip Green Bids for McQueen Dress, Kate Moss in Tears

Naomi Campbell’s Fashion For Relief Haiti show brought many high profile individuals to the front row, including Topshop owner Sir Philip Green. Campbell also included a tribute to Alexander McQueen. The show was followed by an auction on the pieces presented, during which Kate Moss broke into tears when Green bid for the McQueen dress she had modeled.

Should the McQueen Brand Go On Without Him?

This morning it was announced that the McQueen brand will go on, and his previously scheduled Fall 2010 show will be presented since most pieces were already finished. Now, many are discussing whether or not this was the right decision, since Lee Alexander McQueen is irreplaceable as a person and designer. My question, since he left a few suicide notes (as per the police report) shouldn’t we be looking at those for an answer? He obviously knew what he was doing, he did make the decision to end his life, leaving the fate of his design legacy in the hands of those around him!
