Diane von Furstenberg has always been involved in several charitable organizations. Not only is the genius fashion designer president of the CFDA, the non-profit organization of North-American fashion designers, she also supports causes like Love Ball, Vital Voices, the UN’s appeal against biodiversity loss, and her very own DVF Awards – now she and husband Barry Diller have joined Warren Buffet’s and Bill Gates’s initiative “The Giving Pledge“. Warren Buffett and Bill Gates had asked several billionaires to publicly commit to give away at least 50% of their wealth within their lifetime or after their deaths.
Philanthropy experienced its deepest decline ever recorded by the Giving USA Foundation: “Donations fell 3.6% to $303.8 billion last year”. So we at SmartChicStyle are more than happy that more than 40 billionaires already joined The Giving Pledge (click here to see the full list).
Since we aren’t billionaires yet and can’t join to The Giving Pledge we were thinking how to contribute to the cause… And we came up with the ultimate fashionable way to get involved: We’ll just buy more DVF dresses so that she can donate even more money for The Giving Pledge! What a fashionable way to do a good deed!
