Lara Stone on Her Love for Dogs, Carine Roitfeld and Particularly Carine Roitfeld’s Shoes

Edited by

Clad in a clingy Calvin Klein, Lara Stone looked every inch the supermodel as I sat down — flustered and fresh off the subway — to interview her and photographer Alex Prager about their collaboration with Mercedes-Benz. During our little chat in the swanky Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge, I tried to explain the concept of a spirit animal — I muttered something about Native American mythology as the concept isn’t particularly clear to me either — but I feared that it would be lost somewhere in translation. After a few more explanations, we finally got around to the heart of the question – ”Who is your celebrity spirit animal?” As soon as she said the name, I realized the answer was fairly clear.

Emmanuelle Alt Wants You to Wake Her Up Before You Go-Go

Edited by

Jitterbug. Emmanuelle Alt has finally made me not long for the kohl-eyed, pencil-skirted days of Carine Roitfeld and all it took was a few dozen models or so in a pitch-perfect parody of Wham!‘s “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.”  To fete the relaunch of French Vogue‘s website, its editrix-in-chic recruited Anja Rubik, Kendra Spears, Karmen Pedaru and Jasmine Tooks to back her up in a feat of lip-synching that would put Madonna to shame. And while Alt is not as pretty as 80s-era George Michael — then again, who is? — she sure gives him a run for his jitterbugging money. Check out the thoroughly AMAZING clip after the jump.

Stay on Track This Fashion Week with Radar by Fashion GPS

Edited by

If you work in the fashion industry, New York Fashion Week is a mixed bag of emotions. Sure there’s the exhaustion, the fatigue, the indifference and the exasperation after days of standing in lines and dealing with more attitude than you can shake a weave at. But there’s always that initial excitement over the new collections and everyone buzzing around the city. And of course, there’s always that ongoing confusion cum frustration  over what show starts when and where and if you have enough time to get a coffee or a Botox injection before it starts. The industrious folks at Fashion GPS decided to remedy this problem with Radar – a simple and effective way to manage your time, contacts and appointments that will keep you fashionable without being fashionably late.

Carine Roitfeld Used “Real People” as Guest Editor for VMAN

Edited by

After a busy year of redefining and reinventing herself, Carine Rotifeld doesn’t seem to be slowing down in 2012. The former French Vogue editrix recently finished a stint as guest editor for VMAN, where she used “real people” — because as we all know models aren’t actually people —  in the spring fashion issue’s editorials. Said “real people” were a combination of celebrities, chefs, mechanics, architects and a fireman; however for the bonus pin-up calendar, Rotifeld turned to her stable of models, including Victoria’s Secret Angel Adriana Lima

THE DAILY GASP: Joan Smalls and Saskia de Brauw are Gym-tastic in Chanel’s Acrobatic Spring 2012 Campaign

Edited by

We were already loving the first image from Chanel’s spring 2012 ad campaign — after all, you really can’t go wrong with the pairing of Karl Lagerfeld, Carine Rotifeld, Joan Smalls and Saskia de Brauw. But color. Us. Stunned at the entire campaign.  Saskia and Joan prove their posing prowess on pommel horses, uneven bars, ropes, rings and swings — beautifully reminding us all that the 2012 Summer Olympics are on the horizon. Although it’s doubtful that leotarded gymnasts somersaulting through the air will have the elegance, grace and glamour of these two lithe leading ladies.

The Legendary Liz: ROGUE Pays Illustrated Tribute to Ms. Taylor

Edited by

In my mind, 2011 will be remembered as the year we lost one of the brightest stars in the vast constellation of pop culture luminaries — one Dame Elizabeth Taylor. Since her passing in March, Taylor’s legacy has loomed large over the fashion world — from an epic editorial homage by Carine Roitfeld to the record-breaking auction of her vast collection of jewels and haute couture. ROGUE Magazine, which is quickly becoming one of my fave mags for the illustrated icon, ends the year on a Liz-loving high note with this tribute by David Downton

INDIE NEWSROOM: Adam Lambert Arrested in Lovers’ Quarrel/ The Inevitable Kardashian Lawsuit/ Carine on Emmanuelle Alt: “Who?”

Edited by

- Songstress/screamstress/tacky tranny extraordinaire Adam Lambert was arrested Thursday morning in Helsinki, Finland following a row with his trashbox boyfriend, Finnish Big Brother winner Sauli Koskinen.
