Designer Daily: Le Slip Français

Edited by

Le Slip Français‘ philosophy is simple, and maybe that’s why their product is so terrific. Made entirely in France, this elegant and comfortable line proudly embodies the French know-how in traditional quality textile. In fact, their factory located in Saint Antoine in Dordogne has been creating quality underwear for more than sixty years. If you’re not totally in love yet, Le Slip Français gives 2€ from each slip sold to “Rêve d’Enfance,” an association that helps grant wishes of children suffering from life-threatening illnesses. We are obsessing over this adorable men’s underwear line, and you will too after seeing the lookbook.

Designer Daily: NUMBER:Lab

Edited by

Part of an elite group of designers, rapidly expanding in the CFDA Incubator, Luis Fernandez and business partner Greg Lawrence are taking menswear onto athletically tailored ground in their brand, NUMBER:Lab. Designer/Creative Director Fernandez came from the field of architecture, and is applying his knack for building beautiful and functional structures to address his own frustrations with men’s fashion. “We couldn’t find clothes that fit well and still addressed those needs of performance and quality, and not at haute couture prices,” Luis explains. So with technologically advanced textiles, meticulous math, and a keen aesthetic, men now have options away from the three-piece-suit.

DESIGNER DAILY: Naked Label

Edited by

Allison Press is stripping down jewelry. In this nude state, it reaches a gritty depth, effusing raw sexuality and truth. Drawing concepts from the beneath the ocean and the future and space, Naked Label melds organic curves with surprising materials. Favored by indie musicians like Zola Jesus and Nicole Atkins, her jewelry tells a story. A story that’s meant to be told in the flesh.

Designer Daily: Chromat

Edited by

Chromat isn’t just another fashion line. In fact, each collection is a structural experiment for the human body. Hailing from Virginia, designer Becca McCharen‘s education is based in architecture and urban design, apparent in the structural intricacies of her undergarments. Her first fashion collection in 2008 was inspired by redneck street style and the weighty textures of plaid flannel, black leather and denim, and she continues to use the influence of architecture from scaffolding and city maps to build her collections. We’re falling for her cool girl demeanor, and you will too after checking out the Chromat Autumn/Winter collection after the jump.

His designs evolve with the world in which he lives, with inspiration tied to current cultural and social development. While his universe changes, the woman for whom he designs stands steadfast, “present and enduring.” AARI.BOSTROEM addresses the intuitive nature of women, creating fluid pieces for her free subconscious in Spring, while arming her raw vulnerability with strength for Fall 2012. His clothing is empowering rising talent in his home base of Berlin, as it graces the cover of pop songstress Sumera‘s new album. We caught up with Aari Bostroem to find out more.

DESIGNER DAILY: Ax + Apple

Edited by

“They don’t make ‘em like they used to,” says a dejected general consensus. Not jewelry nor funeral effects. Well, by Ax and by Apple, Austin-based jewelry maker Jamie Lyn is changing that. Under the guise Ax + Apple, she’s making jewelry using the all but lost art of wax molds, in symbols that have held cryptic meanings throughout the span of time. Her current collection Imperial Ash explores spiritual burial offerings historically found in tombs and charnal houses the world over. Initially driven to make old world jewelry from her stint as a props person on period films, her pieces induce the supernatural, superstitious, and sturdily-made trinkets of yore.

DESIGNER DAILY: Factory by Erik Hart

Edited by

Out of a stark white live-in studio in Downtown L.A. comes the experimental clothing of Erik Hart. He explains, “It’s always an exercise in the tension of dichotomy. I like to take a garment to the purest essence of what they want to be. I have no interest in the excess or the ornamental. I don’t do trends.”

Designer Daily: Sally Jones

Edited by

With a passion for lace, lingerie and the French aesthetic, designer Sally Jones took her 20 years of experience in the intimate apparel industry and launched her line in 2004, consecutively in France and Australia. Her experience led her to the realization women want beautiful sleepwear to match their delicate intimates, and she has carefully curated each collection to include not only underpinnings, but robes and chemises to match. The Aussie-based designer believes women should flaunt their lingerie from “Bedroom to Boardroom,” and each piece must be versatile enough to let show… even if just a little. Reminiscent of a French boudoir gone by, classic glamour and beauty can always be found at Sally Jones.
