The Simpsons Love Our Fashion Industry Favorites

Edited by

aleXsandro Palombo never fails to tickle us with his creative, tongue-in-cheek illustrations of fashion industry heavyweights, but we are particularly excited about his latest works of art. When we saw these Simpsons caricatures of people like Anna Wintour, Grace Coddington and Coco Chanel, we couldn’t help but laugh out loud and reminisce about America’s favorite animated family. Click to see all the brilliant works.

MUSE OF THE WORLD: Condé Nast Continues Its Downward Spiral, ALT Is Modest As Usual and You Too Can Smell Like a Duchess

Edited by

- Condé Nast is going down in flames, mostly because I’m burning it to the ground as we speak. On the heels of Rihanna disgracing the cover of Vogue and Justin Bieber bringing his fever to Vanity Fair, Katy Perry is the latest popstar to cheapen the CN brand, tarting it up on the cover of June’s Vanity Fair as shot by Annie Leibovitz. Meanwhile, Liz Taylor’s Final Days are relegated to a banner. Give me “Diamonds, sharks, gay bars and the most bizarre road trip ever” over an alleged singer any day of the week. [Vanity Fair]

MUSE OF THE WORLD: Hilary Alexander Trades in Fashion for Cats, Anna Gets the Boot and $10 Mil a Week in Sales Can’t Save AA

Edited by

- Everyone’s favorite banged and bespectacled lady fashion writer and recent CFDA Award honoree Hilary Alexander will retire as fashion director for The Daily Telegraph at the end of June, leaving a hole in my enlarged heart. However, she urges us not to be sad: “I love fashion.I’ll still write occasionally for the DT. I can have a cat, study archaeology +write books!Fashion lives” Fashion lives, but space between words is dying a slow death via Twitter. [Fashionologie]

- The sight of Anna Wintour in Easy Breezy Tennis Casual was at first jarring. Then my mind was officially blown when I learned that she was in $158 J. Brand boot-cut jeans. Not because they were $158 J. Brand jeans, but a boot cut! I recently dug up a pair of flairs that I may or may not have stolen from a fifteen-year-old girl and of course proclaimed that the boot-cut was back. Anna Wintour is totes copying me, you guys. Edited by

Diane von Furstenberg descended from the heavens in a gilded chariot drawn by 7 wrap-dress-attired muses last night to deliver the nominees for the 2011 Council of Fashion Designers of America Fashion Awards. Among this year’s honorees, Lady Gaga will be recognized for the Fashion Icon award and Marc Jacobs will receive the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award. But he’ll have to compete against Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez for Womenswear Designer of the Year.

TRENDSPARK: Sock Appeal
Socks and shoes, a classic fashion faux pas, are emerging with a vengeance this season. Liven up your foot-looks with a pair of socks- wear them high and tight, or slouchy around your ankles. But before you try this at home, a few caveats for all you eager kids:

Are Bloggers Fashion Editors?

Are Bloggers Fashion Editors?

I personally consider myself a fashion editor. Sure, it probably isn’t as difficult to be me than Kate Lanphear, but the work I do and the reach our site has can easily be compared. Swide.com has asked the question ‘Are bloggers considered fashion editors?’  to the likes of Hilary Alexander, Fracana Sozzani, Kate Lanphear, Zanna Roberts and Nina Garcia. Here are their responses.
