Last night’s Golden Globes ceremony was a master class in awards show etiquette, or rather, the lack-thereof. Between the magnums of champagne on each table, host Ricky Gervais‘ ever-present glass of beer and the air of forced pleasantries, the Beverly Hilton was teetering on the verge of a knock-down drag out brawl all night. Somehow everything managed to go off without a hitch, and along the way some wisdom was imparted.

Gayest. Emmys. Ever.

A Jimmy Fallon-helmed Emmys actually ended up not being the worst thing to happen to mankind. Who knew? In fact, it was an entertaining, well-paced affair that ended on time — take note Academy Awards. It was also the gayest Emmys in recorded history. At times I thought I had stumbled upon the Tony’s or the GLAAD Media Awards. The homos came out roaring and took away a lot of the top prizes and I for one couldn’t have been prouder.

Expect Jane Lynch of Glee to be showing off her Material Girl side. Glee has just announced that they will be hosting a 100% Madonna episode. Jane will be performing the dance classic “Vogue”.

“I’m going to be singing the song and doing a video for it,” Lynch told me at the Golden Globes. “It’s going to be so much fun!”

On a side Glee-related note, Kevin McHale, who plays Artie, says he’ll probably never clean the bow tie he wore to the Golden Globes.

“Tom Ford fixed my bow tie so I’m never going to touch it again!” McHale raved about the designer-director. “I was with Jane Lynch and I said, ‘There’s Tom Ford and Julianne Moore!’ Julianne was like, ‘We watch Glee every week.’ I have goose bumps.”

Nice to know we love a show that’s so fashionably excepted.
