Seven Hot Historical Costumes Created With Runway Looks

Halloween is right around the corner, and I don’t even know who I’m going as yet! Although these are a little out of my price range, here are seven historical costumes created with modern looks right from the runway.



RUNDWAY RUNDOWN: Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2010 Couture

Joan of Arc is attacked by a pirate ship which lands in the amazon…or at least something like that! This collection is all over the place, and although I love the workmanship and the detail, this could easily be 3 different collections, all with their own theme!



RUNWAY: Balmain Spring/Summer 2010

Pierre Balmain once said “dressmaking is the architecture of movement,” and Christophe Decarnin managed to make a sexy and sophisticated collection with movement using mainly animal skins and metallics. A Joan of Arc inspired collection, critics claimed his designs were “a returning heroine moment of great zest and epic edgy beauty, saying Decarnin knows “how to rock–and how to sell.”
