VLOV-QingQing Wu is what menswear should be. The edgy cuts, V-shapes and asymmetric zipper detail added an urban warrior aesthetic to men’s suits and are certainly not for the faint of heart. Eye-catching and edgy, the collection was perfect for Wu’s New York Fashion Week debut. Being one of China Fashion Week’s top 10 fashion designers for the past two years, we will surely be seeing more of him.

Norman Ambrose literally dazzled the crowd with glass beading that shone like a sunset for his New York runway debut. The Spring 2012 collection included elegant looks we will probably see on the red carpet very soon. Ambrose is an obvious perfectionist with such detail in his designs like floral embroidery on jacket sleeves and intricate beading. Not your boring parade of gowns, the collection was a modern approach on timeless elegance.

Ivana Helsinki, designed by Paola Suhonen, isn’t just an art project. According to the designer, the independent art, fashion and cinema brand is a way of life. For the Spring/Summer 2012 line “Indian Summer,” Suhonen sent her models down the runway in vibrant tribal prints, black paint dripping from their hands onto the garments, shoes and floor.
