The world — or at least a few dozen people in the world — breathed a sigh of relief when Raf Simons, previously of Jil Sander, was named the new couturier over at Christian Dior. But in addition to guiding the storied house to a new diaphanous day, Simons is also set to relaunch his collaboration with British sportswear label Fred Perry.

As if Dior hasn’t teased us enough in the past year, keeping us wondering for 13 months who’d fill John Galliano‘s Creative Directorial heels (thank you, Raf Simons), we’re now faced with another teaser. The newest Dior film, Secret Garden – Versailles, flashes Daria Strokous, Melissa Stasiuk and Xiao Wen Ju in Marie Antoinette’s playground, in slightly scandalous exposure. The full film drops tomorrow, and sticking with their newfound knack for keeping directors hush hush, we won’t know who directed this film until it launches on Dior.com, May 3rd, 2012.

Raf Simons drew raves for his minimalist take at Jil Sander but don’t expect him to rehash that particular aesthetic at Christian Dior because this pony insists there’s more to him than one trick. Speaking with WWD, Simons elaborated on his vision for Dior and the immense respect he has for its founder.

Well it’s about goddamn time. Dior has confirmed that recently ousted Jil Sander creative director Raf Simons will replace John Galliano as its head of couture.

It seems like a neverending game of fashion musical chairs with the recent upheavals in creative directorship. Raf Simons leaves Jil Sander; Stefano Pilati leaves Yves Saint Laurent; Jil Sander comes back to Jil Sander; Hedi Slimane comes back to Yves Saint Laurent; while Christian Dior‘s seat remains conspicuously empty throughout. The latest exit comes courtesy of couture wunderkind Maxime Simoens, who is leaving his post as creative director at French label Leonard after only four short months. And guess where he’s rumored to be going?

Fashion shows used to solely be the domain of buyers and editors, meant to showcase what designers had to offer for the coming season. But then celebrities got in on the game, and then bloggers, so now fashion shows have become prized tickets. But if you can’t score a front row seat to Chanel or Balenciaga, fret not, because the internet provides all. After the jump is a just a sampling of this season’s shows, up close and personal, from a detailed perspective that even Anna Wintour herself would envy.

I don’t know about you, but personally, I’m tired of hearing about who may possibly be taking over Christian Dior after everyone from Carine Roitfeld to Riccardo Tisci to recently ousted Jil Sander frontman Raf Simons has been rumored for the position. Hell, even I was considered at some point. But nevertheless, here’s a familiar name to throw back into the ring: Haider Ackermann.
