Maison Martin Margiela No Longer At Maison Martin Margiela

Picture 1

Renzo Rosso (founder and owner of Diesel and majority owner of Maison Martin Margiela since 2002), has confirmed that Mr. Margiela is no longer with, or designing the collections:

“Martin has not been there for a long time,” Russo told WGSN. “He is here but not here. We have a new fresh design team on board. We are focusing on young, realistic energy for the future; this is really Margiela for the year 2015.”

Haider Ackermann is rumored to take the reigns.

Old McRenzo Had A Farm, Eei Eei Oh

-4

Diesel Farm, Renzo Rosso’s estate located in the green Marostica hills near his hometown Bassano (Venice, Italy), will open its doors to the web to sell its limited edition products online. With just one click you will have the opportunity to purchase rare and valuable specialities of the sunny and airy climate of Diesel Farm vineyards and olive groves, which previously have been distributed exclusively among a selection of the top restaurants and retailers.

Renzo Rosso comments: “I’m really proud of the wine we produce: it is conceived in a high level selected and limited production, not sold through the normal distributing channels but only in a few top restaurants around the world. Today, thanks to the e-commerce site, Diesel Farm distinguishing wines and olive oil are available to all of Diesel’s fans and gourmet passionates who want to personalize their special occasions and dinners with an additional Diesel lifestyle element.”

SECRETS FROM THE BRAVE: What To Expect From Diesel This Fall

SECRETS FROM THE BRAVE: What To Expect From Diesel This Fall

For all of you Diesel lovers out there, Renzo Rosso has quite a treat for you this Fall! I was lucky enough to check out the Diesel showroom this morning, so trust me when I tell you that these are some of the best pieces Diesel has produced. Slated to drop this July, I got up close and personal with many of the Diesel, Diesel Black Gold and Diesel Denim Gallery pieces from the Fall 2009 collection. Here’s what you can expect:

Despite the fact that weather elements may seem like a pretty generic theme for a collection, Diesel completely rocked out the “weathering” technique and had some awesome storm wash, and vintage rain acid wash denim for the fall. A new denim cut, the Wenga, with frontal pockets and a slight taper to straight leg, will hit stores this fall and is definitely a jean to add to your collection. Though I didn’t get to see a sample, men’s organic paper denim will be back this fall, and good news boys, they are designed to absorb odors, so no need to do laundry! My favorite addition to the Diesel denim family has to be the Matic jean, which brings back the work denim stripe in all of its vintage glory. While some of the weather themes got a bit too literal with print raindrops, I loved the foggy, wet looking leather jackets as well as the sunburn dyed sweatshirts. And for you girly girls out there, expect a slight digression from the androgyny Diesel is so well know for and look forward to a feminine future!

As per usual, the Diesel Black Gold collection is worth sacrificing a limb for. The luxury line, coming into it’s 4th season, radiated a marching band, old New Orleans jazz vibe. Like the Diesel collection, women can expect a much more feminine and refined collection, with a floor-length silk gown definitely worth splurging on. Of course, I couldn’t help by drool over the drop-crotch, tapered overalls. If you’re looking for unique, Diesel Black Gold has got some amazing leather jackets and vests with vacuum sealed badges, medals, confederate stars and buttons beneath the leather (they look embossed but the the pieces are actually beneath the leather!) And the best part of the collection? Well, there is limited distribution on the Diesel Black Gold label so you won’t see too many people rocking the awesome army-leather, drawstring knapsack!

Last but not least was the most exciting accessory of the morning: the Diesel motorcycle helmet. Originally created in Italy for all the moped users, helmets will be released this fall in a variety of basic colors. Part of me wants to go get a motorcycle liscense just so I have a reason to own one of these leather mohawk-ed helmets, though I guess I could wear it snowboarding?

So, there you have it folks. Happy wish-listing!

Renzo Rosso Brings Fashion To Your Furniture

Renzo Rosso Brings Fashion To Your Furniture Renzo Rosso Brings Fashion To Your Furniture

Just when I thought Renzo Rosso’s designs for Diesel and the Diesel Black Gold label couldn’t get any better, he decides to take on a whole new design challenge, extracting style from your closet and tossing it into your living room! Yes, my friends, Diesel plans to launch a furniture collection as part of a collaboration with Italian furniture labels, Foscarini and Moroso. Over five years in the making, Rosso’s main goal is to “revolutionize the furniture industry, and bring the fast pace of fashion to it.” Just as one changes and accessorizes outfits, the Diesel furniture collection will be versatile, allowing owners to simply slip on a new fabric cover for a whole new decor. The collection will include various sized tables, sofas, mirrors, armchairs, dressers, stools and lamps and will range anywhere from $256 to $5,125. There will also be interchangeable pieces around the $40 price range that will allow for a complete furniture makeover! So, how will this slated furniture look? Sticking to his roots in edgy urban design, Rosso plans of keeping the rock and roll vibe, busting out grommets, studs and buckles left and right!  If only you could see me dance around like a little school girl.

Thanks WWD

RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Diesel Black Gold Fall 2009

RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Diesel Black Gold Fall 2009RUNWAY RUNDOWN: Diesel Black Gold Fall 2009Although Diesel Black Gold’s Fall 2009 collection had many viewers scratching their heads, the label’s hand at designing and styling for the sophisticated homeless person was beyond successful. Leave it up to Renzo Rosso to turn mix-matched textures, preppy patterns, oversized suits, seemingly stained bodysuits and teased out hair into the street cult we know and love. With elements of the Roaring Twenties, the lingerie-esque dresses, fish-net headgear, corseted sweaters and ankle-chocking tie-up boots were undoubtedly reminiscent of Lou Reed’s rebellious punker Velvet Underground. It’s about time someone pulled off the mix-matchy vibe this season!

Watch Out New York, The “Diesel Planet Store” Is About To Take Over!

Watch Out New York, The Diesel Planet Store Is About To Take Over!

Milan was recently blessed with one of the greatest Diesel stores of all time. Popping bottles to celebrate his new baby, Renzo Rosso opened the “Diesel Planet Store,” a three story fashion haven, smack dab in the middle of Milan’s Golden Triangle. I know what you’re thinking…book the next flight out of here and get your shop on in Milan. Well, you don’t have to! With a little bit of time and patience, the recession will go back into hibernation, and Renzo Rosso will grant New York with an even bigger/better version of the store. Don’t believe me? In the words of Rosso himself, read it and weep like the little denim devouring fashion addict that you are: “We’re opening a store in New York in February. It’ll be even bigger than this.”

InterViews of Fashion: Renzo Rosso

InterViews of Fashion: Renzo Rosso

On Saturday, October 11th, an ambitious musical event will take place with seventeen different parties happening simultaneously in seventeen different countries to celebrate the 30 year anniversary of one of the most daring and distinctive denim labels. The architect of this sheer musical madness is none other than Italian maverick, Renzo Rosso of Diesel. He’s made an entire career out of defying conventions and doing things his own impassioned, witty, idiosyncratic way.

Where did you get the idea for this massive global party?
Renzo Rosso:
We wanted to celebrate 30 years of creativity and passion and do it in a way only Diesel could do. It’s not about reflecting on our past but looking to the future and using all our talents to come together and create this huge event. There is so much passion and spirit at Diesel, this is a party for the people in the truest sense of the word, anyone can get a ticket. The idea was borne out of sharing this amazing milestone

You have been doing the Diesel:U Music Awards for sometime now. How important is music and supporting new music and artists to you?
RR:
Diesel is renowned for its support of young and fresh talent, be it in music, film, fashion or art. This year we have taken Diesel U Music a step further by creating a radio station, a voice for new music that can be heard worldwide. It’s about giving people the tools and then seeing them succeed and excel in their creativity. This year we have turned our 30th birthday party in to the ultimate music awards and given raw talent, such as the band Princeton who will be performing at the UK event, a unique platform.

Diesel is much more than a brand, it’s more a lifestyle. Would you agree with this?
RR: The strength of a brand lies within its capacity to remain true to itself and its beliefs when it is stretched in to new shapes and directions. What began as a pair of jeans is now a car, a wine, a homeware collection, Diesel has always been about leading a successful lifestyle and now we have the products that enable you to lead that life.

You said in an interview, “I don’t believe in reincarnation, so for me, paradise is this life.” How do you uphold this philosophy?
RR: It’s about finding your own paradise and then being able to share it with those around you. My family are my passion and creating a paradise for them, being able to share what I have built and seeing success. Diesel is not my job, it’s my life.

You released a book when you turned forty called ‘Forty’ and then again when you turned ‘Fifty’. What new chapter do you hope to add when you release ‘Sixty’?
RR: The joy of living in the moment is the joy of not knowing what could happen tomorrow. I hope that it will be a chapter in a format that does not even exist, that we cannot imagine right now.

Diesel Pledges to Build $150,000 Hospital

Diesel Pledges to Build $150,000 Hospital

Renzo Rosso has been attending amfAR galas for more years than he will comfortably admit. The philanthropist recently hit in the Cinema Against AIDS benefit at the Cannes Film Festival, where it appears that seatmates Juliette Lewis and Petra Nemcova set the Diesel chief’s charitable fire up a notch or two.  On the spot, Renzo donated $150,000 to the construction of a hospital for the care of children suffering from AIDS in Malawi. No word on whether Madonna will be involved, but Lewis cheered in approval. She certainly looked the part in her frock from the Diesel Black Gold casual luxury collection launching this fall.
