Devil to Continue Wearing Prada, Barneys Having a Disney Xmas and Kathie Lee Puts Stiletto in Mouth

Edited by

Eva Longoria claims she’s been asked by Victoria Beckham to be the godmother of future editirix of VogueHarper Seven. [InStyle UK]

- Speaking of power-bitch editrices, that classic fashion roman à clef, Devil Wears Prada is getting a sequel, ingeniously titled Revenge Wears Prada, due out in April of next year. Let’s just hope it’s good enough to merit a movie sequel as well since no one will ever get tired of Meryl Streep making Anne Hathaway feel like this. [Racked]

Round and Round She Goes and Where Marc Jacobs Will Stop, Nobody Knows

Edited by

Louis Vuitton‘s spring 2012 show featured a carousel with models riding side-saddle (of course) and Kate Moss – who, by the way, “asked to be in the show” — closed as she did last season. All in all, another success for one Ms. Marc Jacobs, but the question on everyone’s mind revolves around that whole Christian Dior rumor.

QUEL SCANDALE! Presents Fashion Fascists: Christian Dior’s “Nazi Look”

Edited by

After Hugo Boss recently apologized for its namesake founder’s Nazi past, we’ve realized that designers were heiling Hitler left and right all up and through the 20th century. So in light of this —  and of the coming Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashana (mazel!) — we’re highlighting the biggest fascists in fashion history as part of our ongoing Quel Scandale! feature. The fashion Industry was in uproar last week after John Galliano was dismissed as Creative Director from Christian Dior following numerous anti-Semitic allegations made against the designer. Galliano has denied all allegations made against him and claimed that he is of partial Jewish ancestry, although this has not been verified. The dismissal on 1st March came immediately following the release of a video clip of the designer, who was unquestionably inebriated, stating, “I love Hitler”.

How Did the Dior Show Go Off Today in Paris?

Edited by

From the flurry of of tweets fluttering in from thousands of miles and six hours away, the show was a success. Sidney Toledano, chief executive of Christian Dior, made a speech before the show, Karlie Kloss opened (naturally) in dramatic cape (naturally) and the entire atelier came out to take a bow. Dior posting a united front in what has surely been one of the most important — for good and for bad —  fashion weeks in quite some time. Update: Quotes from Sidney Toledano’s speech after the jump.

ADDICT: Christian Dior Decides Against Traditional Campaign

Edited by

ADDICT: Christian Dior Decides Against Traditional CampaignThese Marion Cotillard advertisements for Lady Dior (above – old, I know!) are here to stay but models and traditional advertising are gone. Fall 2009′s seasonal ads have been replaced with “star power” that is supposed to “give more meaning” and will more successfully “represent the values of a company”. That’s Dior CEO Sidney Toledano speaking, and I’m not trying to pick a fight, but Dior ads featuring models will certainly be missed.
