Kanye West Cancelled Press Preview but Made Anna Wintour Smile at Fashion Show

Edited by

Despite models’ complaints about their proficiency in his runway shoes, Kanye West‘s fall 2012 collection went off without a hitch. Having learned from the coal-raking he had for his debut collection, West went back to the drawing board and cleaned house a little and the results were, as noted catwalk pundits agreed, “eh, all right.”

London Fashion Week: Mary Katrantzou Fall 2012

Edited by

Mary Katrantzou is currently flying high. Her wild, colorful prints have made their way to fast fashion in her collaboration with Topshop. She just debuted her Fall 2012 collection at London Fashion Week, and the British designer’s sensational prints are causing a seriously intriguing eye trip among critics. Inspired by fashion superstar Antony Price, famous for dressing Roxy Music, her dramatic silhouettes went from the peplum and hourglass to corsets and godet skirts, the latter extremely difficult to print on in a uniform manner. We always love Katrantzou’s eye twirling collections, and this is no exception. See the gallery after the jump.

SHOE ENVY: Rodarte Fall 2012

Edited by

Kate and Laura Mulleavy turned to Australia for inspiration when designing the Rodarte Fall 2012 collection, and we’re crushing on the high-waisted wool pants, beautifully tailored double-breasted blazers and whimsical cool-girl gowns as usual. But the shoes, THE SHOES, have nearly thrown us backwards right out of our chairs. Look closely inside those Plexiglas heels, and you’ll notice they are filled with sand. Though much chicer, it brings to mind craft projects of yore –  a sentimental and all around extraordinary idea. Not to mention the thick color blocked leather and metal plate detail adds to the wonderment below the ankles. Click for the gallery after the jump.

#NYFW Beauty Trend: Gothic Lips

Edited by

Bright red lips are an obvious trend for Fall 2012 – we’ve literally been seeing them at every other show. But a bit more brooding and certainly a big statement, gothic lips are going to be huge come the changing of the leaves. Whether dark red or teetering on the purple side, a shadowy pout can work for both day and night. Click to see the trend gallery after the jump.

#NYFW Cheat Sheet: Reem Acra Fall 2012

Edited by

Sniff, sniff. I smell Oscar dresses. It’s no surprise Reem Acra showed some of the most beautifully beaded gowns I’ve seen all week for Fall 2012, but the rest of the collection was just as interesting. Ladylike suits woven with metallic threads were accessorized with chic matching luggage. Leather pieces in black, burgundy and forest green demonstrated Acra’s affinity for impeccably tailored, sophisticated and body-conscious design. Thigh high slits, cutouts and sheer panels drove the evening wear to another level of red carpet worthiness. It’s guaranteed whoever wears Fall 2012 Acra during awards season will land on the best dressed list. If the dress fits properly of course.

#NYFW Hair Trend: The Center Part

Edited by

Whether straight or wavy; slick or tousled; loose, worn up or in a low pony, one thing is for certain: the center part is here in full force for Fall 2012. Bang-less models stormed the New York Fashion Week runways with hair framing the face evenly on either side, a super low-maintence look for the season. Check out our  trend gallery after the jump.

SHOE ENVY: Jason Wu Fall 2012

Edited by

For Jason Wu‘s Fall 2012 collection, the designer asked “What is Chinese?” Finding he came up with three different answers to the question, the line was created with the military, the Qing Dynasty and the 1930s/40s Hollywood version of China in mind. After taking in the beautiful embroidery and silk tassels, our eyes move immediately to the floor where the strappy studded leather sandals are waiting for our feet to envy. Check out a few of our favorite pairs in the gallery after the jump.

An Eccentric Full Moon Hangs Over Milan

Edited by

As Sam and I flipped through the pages of yesterday’s WWD, we noticed some pretty kooky looks stepping off the Milan runways. When we think of Italian style, we think modern, streamlined and sexy. For Spring 2012, it seems the creative minds behind Italy’s top fashion houses decided to drop acid and design together. Not that we mind, but it is an interesting change. Here are some of the most eccentric looks for the Milan runways – would you wear them?
