Rookie Look Inside Tavi Gevinson’s Bedroom

Edited by

Growing up before our very eyes, from blogger sensation to Editor-in-Chief, Tavi Gevinson has been letting us peek into her world the whole ride through. Today on StyleLikeU, we get to dig a little deeper into the closet and mind of the not-so-Rookie-anymore style icon. Find out why her a Meadham Kirchoff sweater with a flying witch is her favorite, and why her tiered chiffon dress from Courtney Love has “a weird magical vibe” to it. Tavi also gives her advice for how to not be an awkward teenager at a party. Getting rid of the grays was a good start. Starting her own magazine is surely a plus.

Net-a-Porter Ranks Most Powerful Blogs, FashionIndie Snubbed Once Again

Edited by

Online super retailer Net-a-Porter asked a panel of industry experts, including Paper Magazine‘s Mickey Boardman, gal about town and Harper’s Bazaar Editor-at-Large Derek Blasberg and Bloglovin’ founder Mattias Swenson to select their top ten favorite blogs. If FashionIndie hadn’t done enough coke at 54 to powder the nose of every actress in Hollywood ten times over thus rendering all emotions dead below the larynx, our feelings would be super hurt right now. Check out the list below, if you care to (you shouldn’t).

Tavi Doesn’t Think She Deserves to Sit Front-Row

Tavi Doesn’t Think She Deserves to Sit Front Row

Tavi on bloggers sitting front-row at Fashion Week: “Does this mean I think I deserve to be sitting front row, or at all, at a few shows? Hell no, and it's never because of my blog alone, it's because I'm affiliated with a project or magazine that has me there, but I'm happy to write about what I saw and how I feel about it on the blog as well, and hear what my commenters thought, and maybe this reaches a different demographic of people than a magazine or newspaper, because anything can only reach so many people before there have to be some that can't identify with it.” Style Rookie

SPREAD: Tavi Wears Miu Miu

Edited by

SPREAD: Tavi Wears Miu Miu Tavi is certainly becoming quite the little lady, but her reputation as a fashion icon isn’t the only thing that’s growing up! Tavi’s rapport with Miu Miu recently scored her a few borrowed pieces from the label’s Spring 2010 collection, the result being this fabulous personal spread! Is it just me, or do we have a mini Courtney Love on our hands?

STREET HEROES: Tavi

STREET HEROES: Tavi

The reoccurring hints of Spring time have even the biggest fashionistas getting their warm weather looks ready. My personal favorite Tavi, aka The Style Rookie, keeps it fairly simple with a simple graphic tee and blazer look. Love her hair so much!

TEAM TAVI: Why Dying Media Whores Can’t Stand a Successful 13 Year Old Blogger?

TEAM TAVI: Why Dying Media Whores Cant Stand a Successful 13 Year Old Blogger?

In a winded article for AOL’s Stylelist (the formerly glorious dotcom’s attempt at hard hitting fashion “coverage”) a fairly jaded New York writer Katie Hintz-Zambrano decides to jump on the Tavi-bashing bandwagon by complaining about the 13-year old’s access to fashion designers, front row seating and overall influence in the industry.

As a blogger who’s often been targeted by larger media publications for my own personal approach to blogging, I found the article to be a double-sided bitch slap. Not only does she put into question the girls age as a factor in her overall value to fashion publishing, but she also does the unthinkable by calling her style was “warrant [of] serious eye rolls”. Oh snap!!!

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To Know

Edited by

We’ve composed a list of the twenty five most stylish people we know under twenty five (well, a couple are “25″). Influences, creatives, or just plain crazy people, here’s Fashion Indie’s take on who to know, and who we wish we were as stylish as:

Celebrities-

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowRihanna- Ri’s been really stepping it up lately. She’s got a wide range of looks, and is starting to find a world of her own when it comes to her style.

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowLady Gaga- Everyone knows she’s crazy. Lady Gaga is definitely changing the views of fashion right now

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowTaylor Momsen- Are you surprised? You know we love her.

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowEmma Watson- The young HP actress is growing up! And looking hot at every event, if we do say so ourselves.

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowThe Olsen Twins- They’ve been in the fashion eye for awhile now, and now that they’ve got some of their own lines, they always look awesome.

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowZoe Kravitz- Lenny’s daughter! This teen has been making a lot of appearances lately, and looks good!

Models-

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowChanel Iman- Our favorite model to follow on Twitter. Chanel is so adorable, and has really awesome style

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowTallulah Morton- She’s all over the Cobra Snake (in a Cory Kennedy way), and always looking fly.

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowCole Mohr- This is for you Kirby.  Cole brought boyish and grunge to the fashion forefront, for models anyway. Plus he’s incredibly handsome, which definitely isn’t a bad thing.

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowEthan James- Ethan is being seen more and more on the fashion scene (Milan fashion week, H & M, tons of editorial spreads), and has a similar look to Cole. I actually went to high school with this Ford model, and he’s been the most stylish guy I know since he was 15.

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowJethro Cave- Pioneered the half-shaved head. LOVE those hanger tattoos.

Fashion Personalities and Party People-

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowAlexa Chung- Whether she’s dressed to kill or wearing denim cutoffs, Alexa Chung is always on top of her game.

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowChloe Sevigny- Great designer, great style icon. I’m in love with her buckle booties, which she is seen wearing a lot, paired with skinny pants or cute dresses. Definitely a hipster style icon.  We know she isn’t exactly under 25, but she’s been around for so long as a stylish designer to know, and like our moms, is one of those women that turn 25 every year for the rest of their lives.

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowPeaches Geldof- This social always looks gorgeous (as do all the Geldofs), for events or on the street with her fake fiance.

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowAaron Kolfage- Fashion Indie’s favorite party host and dear friend, Aaron always looks fierce on Friday nights at Ruff Club. He dresses with such creativity, I haven’t seen anything like it anywhere else. This weekend, Aaron was wearing a giant tulle bowtie with a brooch in the middle, and I was mad jealous. Aaron gives us Midwesterners hope for being incredibly stylish, he’s from Michigan!

Fashion Bloggers-

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowPelayo of Kate Loves Me – This guy, and his girlfriend, both have killer style. He wears some of the craziest things I’ve ever seen (including Louis Vuitton mesh tights!), and has perfectly coiffed hair at all times.

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowLovisa The Intern- Lovisa Drever is all over Lookbook.nu, but I know her from Waffles + Falafels (who even briefly carried a shirt with her photo on it). She’s got a killer sense of style and can pull anything off, plus adds to the crazy personalities of W + F, who are some of my favorite people.

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowSix Six Sick Girls- These hosts and bloggers DIY matching outfits for their events, which include everything from red wigs to elbow gloves. They not only have a crazy (and matching) sense of DIY style, they also post some (literally) sick stuff on their blog.

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowKirby Marzec- Fashion Indie’s own managing editor, Kirby not only knows everything about every designer, and what’s going to be hot next season, but she also isn’t afraid to pull it off. Whether it’s drop (to the knee) crotch pants, DIY ripped tees, or metal vests, you can be assured that Kirby will wear it, and she’ll wear it damn well.

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowJazzi McG- We had a half hour long talk the other day about how much we love Jazzi’s blog, and her style.  A queen of DIYing and always dressed perfectly for the occasion, she’s definitely one to watch.

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowTavi of Style Rookie-  Tavi is no rookie, maybe in the way that ‘Rookie of the Year’ becomes a professional baseball player, Tavi dresses better than some veterans of fashion.

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowCamille of Childhood Flames- Another not-even-legal fashion blogger showing that you don’t have to have a career to be fashionable, this sixteen year old is a pro at mixing designer goods with things we can afford, and is also taking advantage of the DIY world.

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowLucas Logan- This 18-year-old from LA is all over the internet, model/blogger (Stylish Kids In Riot)/designer, Lucas is California’s newest ‘It’ Kid, braces and all.

Musicians-

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowUffie- I mean look at her, in.sane.

25 UNDER 25: Stylish People To KnowThe Veronicas- I’ve followed The Veronicas since I was in high school, and their style has definitely evolved into rocker chic. They always look good separately, and even better together, on stage or off, and aren’t afraid to take risks.
