When singer Taylor Swift isn’t busy crashing weddings, she is designing footwear for sneaker manufacturer Ked’s. The 22-year old singer has just signed a three-year deal with the casual footwear brand and will play a big role in the brand’s new direction.

Simultaneously releasing with her upcoming album Red, Taylor Swift is collaborating with the footwear label Ked’s. Her signature sneaker also dubbed “Red” will be debuting on the day that her album drops, October 22nd.

Ked’s is shaping their new campaign inspired by the strength of teenage girls. Swift’s story of her family moving to Nashville to help her pursue her singing career will be the first featured story.

Swift told Women’s Wear Daily, “I remember wearing Keds as a little kid, while riding my bike around the farm. When I got older, I started wearing them again. There’s something cool about shoes that you can grow up with”

Taylor Swift’s fan base is majorly made up of teenage girls, making the young country star an ideal spokesmodel for the brand’s new direction and campaign. Often seen as a role model, Swift’s lyrics are easy for young girls to relate to. Whether she’s singing about a breakup, new love, or dreaming of fairytales, Swift’s success has come from her ability to relate to her audience.

Ked’s is exiting the men’s division this year, focusing all of their efforts into women’s sneakers. After opening themselves up to just the womenswear division, they foresee exploring apparel and other venues in the future.

With Taylor as their “North Star” it seems as if Ked’s is going to become more than just a brand of sneakers that teenage girls wear. The possibilities for brand expansion are endless and maybe one day we will see a full revival and feel the nostalgic need to wear that same brand of tennis shoes that we once wore as a kid.

If you love Taylor Swift’s style as much as we do, check out her hottest red-carpet moments here.
