What was originally billed as the “Year of Lindsay Lohan‘s Comeback” is more or less turning into the “Year of Lindsay Lohan Continuing to Be Lindsay Lohan.” Production on her Lifetime movie about Elizabeth Taylor, Liz & Dick, has been rocky to say the least. And while she’s slated to star in a new film with some acclaimed names attached, The Canyons, the “teaser trailer” leaves much to be desired.
Like an actual trailer. Shouldn’t there be some sort of indication that this is a film and that there’s a plot and characters involved? Instead, we’re treated to various parts of L.A. shot in various parts of the day, scored with some dramatic music to make us feel like something is about to happen….but ultimately, nothing does. Which is basically the Lindsay Lohan Comeback Story.
Written by Bret Easton Ellis — of Less Than Zero, Rules of Attraction and American Psycho fame — and directed by Paul Schrader — best known for writing Taxi Driver and Raging Bull and writing/directing American Gigolo — The Canyons allegedly stars LiLo and noted porn star, James Deen.
According to its Kickstarter page, the film ”documents five twenty-something’s quest for power, love, sex and success in 2012 Hollywood.” It reached and exceeded its goal of $100,000 on June 9, but clearly that hasn’t been long enough to create anything resembling a film. Nevertheless, here’s the “teaser trailer,” which pretty much teases how cinematic L.A. is. [Highsnobiety]
