Cowboy boots have been a Wild West tradition on the American range since post-Civil War times. During the 1920′s, Hollywood picked up on the trend through Wild West flicks and the Roy Rogers Show. The Duke of Wellington of Britain first gave the cowboy name to a mid-calf boot with a low heel. These boots were issued to soldiers during the Civil War, who then returned home with them when the war was over. In the late 1890s, cowboys wore these Wellingtons to drive cattle from Kansas to Texas. It was not until the 1920s that Hollywood and Wild West films made the cowboy boot a true fashion trend.
