Yohji Yamamoto is a designer of the dark. Black permeates nearly everything he creates. In a documentary coming this Fall, we get a deeper glimpse into his psyche. In “This Is My Dream” we’ll learn what makes him tick, but more importantly, what makes him design. Was it the bomb in Tokyo? That he pays no mind to trends? Is it that “too good harmony is boring… conflict is charming”? In this film, we may understand the reasoning behind one of the world’s most unique perspectives. Watch the trailer.

Yohji Yamamoto Shows World his Dream

This documentary marks his 10th anniversary with Adidas – a brand he’s so suitable for because, as he says, “I’m just interested in how to cut clothing.” Trends mean nothing to him. Fashion is personal for him, it comes from the shapes he creates.
